I can't imagine what a mp3 file should do on a gig,
is it karaoke you're performing?
On a gig you're far more free to add a refrain or
whatever you like by live playing if the public are
in good mood and want you to. By use of sequensed
songs, midis or mp3 you're totally forced to follow
the playback all the time.
