You actually do start the process with the keyboard switched off. Might make matters worse, Suppose depends how desperate you are & you would want to check if it nulls some sort of warranty.

I tried it, didn't help. As I said, my screen went dark, but I knew it wasn't totally dead, in certain light I could see shadows of the icons.
I had no choice but to replace.
