Hi Scott,
I'm probably way over my head here as I don't have a Tyros or a digital recorder to try it with, but, here's my simplistic approach ( which probably won't work, but, who knows)
is it possible to record the drums to one track of your recorder.
Then connect midi out of recorder to midi in of tyros , set it up to external sync
mute the drum track of your midi sequence
press record on your recorder,
hopefully the already recorded drum track will send the signal to trigger your Tyros and record the rest of your accompaniment to another track.
Next record your vocals to another track while listening to your your already recorded backing.
Go back and delete the accompaniment track leaving the original drum track in place.
Fix up your sequence or whatever it is that you want to do.
Press record again on your recorder and record your whole sequence.
Go back and delete your original drum track.

Just wondering if a software sequencer might not work better for what you're doing, rather than the internal sequencer.

best wishes
Rikki
