I own a Korg D1200mkII Multi-track Digital Recorder and a Yamaha Tyros keyboard with onboard midi sequencer.
I need to simultaneously monitor the playback of my midi song tracks (backing sequence) played on my Tyros keyboard's onboard sequencer while recording my vocal tracks to the Korg D1200mkII. I want to keep all the midi tracks on the Tyros until the final mixdown, before finally recording them to the Korg D1200mkII. Because of this, both the recorded vocals (D1200mkII) & midi song playback (Tyros Sequencer) must be kept locked in sync. The Yamaha Tyros keyboard does not support MMC or MTC, but does support syncing to Midi Clock. In addition, the D1200mkII can only be set as the master (midi clock internal), which means the Tyros keyboard must act as the slave (midi clock external).
In the Tyros keyboard's midi setup configuration window, I set the midi clock to: midi clock external. I also connected a midi cable from the D1200mkII's midi out jack to the Tyros midi in jack. I then pressed the Tyros keyboard song sequencer start button in hopes of triggering a steady/blinking light to advise me that it was then waiting for me to press the 'play' button on the D1200mkII to trigger the Tyros keyboard's sequencer to begin playing. Unfortunately the Tyros sequencer's play button indicator light neither lite up or flashed, and subsequently pressing the 'play' button on the D1200mkII did not trigger the Tyros keyboard sequencer to begin playing either.
I'm wondering if I might have omitted a crucial set up/configuration step on either the Tyros keyboard or D1200mkII. Any and all help (hopefully with step by step setup procedures) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Scott
