Hi All,

Im planning to buy 2 microphones to use with my PSR-S950. Im looking at the Shure SM58 or the Sennheiser E835s. The Sennheiser is cheaper and has super reviews. Any suggestions here? Also are there any other mics I can consider in the same price range?

Thanks

Sunny

I would consider the AKG D5 or D5S, it is a great Mic that is Supercardiod and is very hard to get feedback even at close distances, my friend Michael Carollo used EV ND Series and Sennheiser E series, and got feedback, since he switch to AKG D5S, he so far is been Feedback Free, and sounds amazing too.

The AKG D5 has a Step down model, the P5 and P5 S, (The S is means that have a Switch to turn off the Mic on both Models D5S and P5S).
And the best part is the prices without compromising High Quality audio:

I own both models and other than cosmetics, you can not tell them apart for the Audio Quality.
I use them on my Demos/Clinics for the PSR S950/S750 also in my performances with the Tyros5, and also use them to record some Audio Multipads, both are amazing.

I love the E series. I'm using E935. Just got it after years of using E855, which they no longer make.
I've also tried and used a number of others with pretty good results, but always return to the Sennheisers. They have almost zero handling noise and very little if any e.q. is necessary.
I can see where one might get high-end feedback if you apply the "traditional" V-curve e.q. that is considered necessary for SM58s and many of its imitators. Just set e.q. flat, and then adjust in very small amounts to suit your voice, if necessary.
E935 is a little on the pricey end, but 835 is more affordable and close in performance.

Hi Mdorantes,

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. Again, the AKG mics are out of stock and will only arrive beginning of Feb. I have a gig on the 22nd and needed new mics. Anything else that you could suggest from Sennheiser, Samson, audio technica, rode...etc since these brands are readily availble in stock with a day's delivery.

Thanks

Sunny

Im going more toward the Sennheisers E835S. Probably will place an order today since I need it in the next 2 days. WHat do you suggest as a second back up MIC the SM58 or another Sennheiser.

Oldfashioned me will allways choose senheiser, because in general i love the warmth and the accuracy of the sound, and they feel like a perfect build for my ears that does never irritate me...

Sunny, we use both the e835 and sm58. The e835 seems a bit more rugged and has better off axis rejection. Very good mike.
