Does anyone know a quick way of switching from split to full screen? When I access lyrics via the disc button I have the lyrics options in front of me. ie: lyrics on/off , zoom on/off. I save these settings as part of my registration but when I call up a registration I have a split screen.

I still can't work out why, when I am playing live, I sometimes get full screen. Sometimes I get the directory on the left and sometimes on the right.

I know the F10 button toggles lyrics on and off but is there a way to zoom the lyrics to full screen from there

I have stumbled on to the answer to my own question. For the benefit of others you simply press the Registration button again. Three presses give you three different views.

Here's my latest tip:

Pay attention to the trim control on the mic. Mine had been set too high. I had distortion problems with the harmonies and they sounded like Daleks. Turned down the trim and problem solved.

Go to style mode (the button to the left of style view). Set the Guitar interactive setting from 100 to 60. Make sure "Bass to root" is off. (this allows some very nice bass riffs every now & then)

Now, when you play a style with live guitars, everytime you want a single strum, just press a little harder on the chords. Every single harder press will give you a single strum.

Also, the 4th equalizer selection provides some nice & crisp & clear equalizer settings.

If you want mute this LIVE GUITAR "only during the BREAK" go to VIEW and select the both button KEY START and KEY STOP (red light on), (the style on STOP) after select arranger "A" and play BREAK, put the volume of LIVE GUITAR to 0, repeat the same procces with the others variations "B", "C" and "D". Only work with BREAK, not with FILL IN.

I did indeed find that the Registration saves the style, so that it is always called up, even if the original style location no longer exists!

- press "4/9" ( Block )
- press "Edit"
- press "1/6" ( create )
- select a single registration with jog-dial and press "ENTER"
- you see, that "F1" changes from "empty" to the single reg name
- select another single registration with jog-dial and press enter
- and so on, until 10 registrations are "full" ( or you have enough for what you need )
- press "5/10" ( save )
- enter a name and again "ENTER"

I have a desperate need to connect two headphones to our Audya.

However, when I set the parameter : Headphones to out 3 & 4 to "on", I loose my regular headphone out channel, but there's nothing on output 3 or 4 when I connect my headphone to it.

T..he 3&4 out is two mono jack, and not a Stereo Out that need a Headphones out...

I think it is happens because need to be routed the Outputs from MENU/OUTPUT ASSIGN/OUT 3&4. By using the CURSOR buttons you can select the source one by one, and set the output destination, choosing from Main Stereo or Main + 3&4.

I would also recommend a headphone amplifier. Ketron have erred on the side of caution and disabled the ability to turn the headphones up beyond a safe level - fine for home, but no good for live monitoring during a performance. I have spoken to them about this but they insist the levels are set at a safe point and I guess they do not like the idea of someone claiming damages.

For those of you with the AJAMSONIC upgrade, once you've installed OS 4.0 or higher, no further adjustments will be needed when you want to install any future AUDYA Updates ... simply download from Ketron's website and install. You won't loose anything but gain what the update has to offer.

Now I try to read the manual how to copy the HD to my Pc but I have a hard time with this manual.Is there a better way. i have Window7 (64bits)

ok, its going to take a while so do it in stages over a few evenings to prevent problems. honestly its going to take many hours due to the Audyas USB interface (this is the only time you will be bothered by its slow data transfer rate)

first of all you need to make all files and folders visible from your computer - otherwise you will miss out a big chunk of stuff. just google "how to make all files and folders visible".

Then make a new folder on your computer and call it "Audya Back Up_date" (put the date in so you remember when you last updated it.)

Then connect a USB cable (printer type with one spade and one square plug) to the rear of the audya and your PC

Then open two windows on your desktop, one showing the contents of the audya, one showing the so far empty contents of your new backup folder.

copy all the 'files' in Audya's root directory to the new folders, then one folder at a time (dont touch the 'system' folder yet) copy the Audya folders over to you new backup folder. DJ loops and sfx are going to take a long time.

once thats done make a new folder in your backup folder called 'system' and enter it. On the audya enter the opaque 'system' folder so you can see the contents. Now copy, one folder at a time each Audya folders over to you new 'system' folder on your computer. This is going to take some time.

This method will help prevent cyclic redundancy errors. If you do get an error then disconnect the audya, and delete the folder on your pc that was being copied at the time. Trying to copy the entire hard drive in one go will definitely give you problems.

Lastly - if you don't fancy doing the above your retailer can order a system restore disk from ketron which includes all the data minus the 2011 update which must be applied after doing the system restore.

you need to 'normalize' the recording afterward. From memory, you have to import the wav file into the editor and then select normalize.

A) HOW TO PERFORM THE CHECK SUM TEST ON THE AUDYA

1. Keep the F1 key pressed down and switch the machine ON. Release the key when on the display the menu with the first diagnostics of the instrument appears.
2. Press the F5 “CONTINUE" key. On the display the single sections of the test menu appear.
1. Press the F2 key to access the DSP0 (9708) menu to carry out the Flash checksum tests.
2. Press the ENTER key to perform the test on all flash memories in sequence, from 1 to 11.

If there are no errors displayed, press EXIT several times to exit the Test Menu. Audya will be automatically restarted.

If, instead, there are errors shown for one or more flash memories, write down the relevant name (e.g. KetA01, KetA03, etc.) shown on the left-hand side of the display, after the indications F1, F3, etc., and press EXIT several times to exit the Test Menu.
Audya will be automatically restarted. Follow the indications of section B) to restore the data.


B) HOW TO RESTORE WRONG CHECKSUMS

Important:
If the corrupt flash memory should be Ket02, before rewriting go to the main Root and select the 9708f1av00,SAM file, then press ENTER to load it. Then the following operations can be executed.

1. While the instrument is ON, press DISK to go to the main directory (C:\).
2. Go to folder C:\SYSTEM and press the ENTER key (twice); select the FACTORY folder with the DATA/VALUE wheel and confirm by pressing the ENTER key. Select the SOUND folder with the DATA/VALUE wheel and confirm by pressing the ENTER button. On the display a list appears. Use the table below to select the files you are interested in, then press ENTER.

A PRACTICAL EXAMPLE
If the flash memories test shows that there is an error in "KetA05" (ERR), select file KET0600.PCM (see the table below) and then press the ENTER key to start loading.
Once the loading phase is completed (requiring about 10 minutes per flash memory), repeat the TEST to make sure that the operation was completed successfully.

IMPORTANT: if during loading the message "Flash write error" appears, contact the technical service of KETRON s.r.l..

C) CHECKING THE “ALL TABS” FILE

Important: This file must be controlled each time the steps described in section A) and B) are carried out.

1. On the main screen page, press the F5 USER 1/6 keys at the same time. On the display a test page is displayed, with a list of points with the indication OK at the right side.
2. Press the >> “FORWARD” key and on the left lower area of the display the current ALLTABS version is displayed, i.e. 2C349B72
3. Press the EXIT key to go back to the main menu of Audya.
4. If the Check sum of the All Tabs file is wrong, proceed as follows to restore it:
5. Open the SYSTEM folder, open the FACTORY folder and then the TABLE folder.
6. Select the ALLTABS.TAB file and confirm by pressing the ENTER key.
7. Once the loading phase is completed, repeat operations 1 and 2 of paragraph C.

D) OTHER CHECKS TO BE PERFORMED FROM THE TEST MENU

1) Keep the F1 key pressed down and switch the machine ON. Release the key when on the display the menu with the first diagnostics appears.
2) Press the F5 “CONTINUE" key. On the display the single sections of the test menu appear.
3) Press the F1 key to access the test checking the correct functioning of the switches and the potentiometer, pedals, modulation and pitch bender.
4) Press the F3 key to check the DSP1 effect (check sum: 6819), whereas for the O.S. 4.2a and higher the check sum is the following: 372)
5) Press the F4 key to check the DSP2 effect (check sum: C67D)
6) Press the F5 key to access the test checking the outputs of the instrument.
7) Press the F6 key to access the test checking the USB ports.




Important Notice: After the 2011 Upgrade the:

F2 KET A02 changes to 86AC1D49

and the All Tabs changes to 2C2BE9C5

its not so easy these days to 'reset' a modern instrument. Old style keyboards used only ROM or RAM so it was simple to reset to a factory state, but even then you sometimes had to reload sounds using cards or disks (Korg M1 or Farfisa F1 for instance). However the Audya is far more complex as just like your PC, the hard drive features strongly in how the instrument operates. If you make changes to the hard drive the only way to get it back to original is to use a backup (or restore disk available from your distributor). BUT....if you have used updates or USB upgrades then you also have to re-apply these as they will have made deeper changes to the instruments Flash RAM. If you use old data on the hard disk and that data does not match the flash memory, your Audya is going to be scrambled.

So if you realy do want both hard drive and Flash to the CURRENT factory default, my suggestion is to ask for an up to date system restore disk (it will be pre-2011 USB upgrade though). Once you have it format the hard drive (using the format command on the AUDYA and not your PC), then copy all the data over - but to avoid problems copy only a few folders at a time (don't forget to make system files and folders visable from your PC too). Next apply updates as required - if you used a USB update its vital to re-install it. Finally run the CHECKSUM/ALLTABS tests and make sure you have the latest test procedure from your distributor so you do not make a mistake with KETA02.

If you only want to reset your custom start up, there is an option when you press SAVE. F10+unplugged reloads the currently installed OS.

In the manual it says to select a program and to modify it to the individual requirements. Do I have to save them always in the different voice banks or can I create a new folder with all my individual programs ? How to avoid overwriting existing programs (happened when I modified existing ones even when I saved them under a different name).

The PROGRAM LOCATIONS unfotunately are fixed and so you simply over-write the factory ones. To store the factory files so that you can always revert to them when needed, make a back up of the following file in your AUDYA's HD (which is where the programs get stored) ...

C:/SYSTEM/INIT/PRESETS.PRG (make a copy of this in another folder (e.g C:/WAVE/DEFAULT). This way you can change your programs as you see fit, but when you want to get back to the factory, simply copy this file back into the location above.

...When you press SAVE - you're saving the currently selected PROGRAM into memory (on the panel), i.e simply overwritting the current PROGRAM in memory with your new one. When you press SAVE DISK, ALL Programs are saved as 1 file to the Hard Drive - PRESETS.PRG

...what are the best ways of using a mp3 or wav file as a song intro before continuing with a song style ? Should I create 2 registrations and then just switch in the style ?

the besta fast way is to save a registration that has styles + mp3 or wav. you can start play mp3 or wav and then start the styles, together too, you can across from mp3 to style using the volume, of course only the problem is sync. but if you want to us mp3 as intro that don't have the drum or tempo is ok for effect. another way is to assign mp3 to key. is only important you press the key at tempo during play styles, then they are sync, but I don't know if registration save or recol the key mode (don't remember the "name" but is the keys where is program, voice list, ram then "key..." this is.

The best is create a User Audio Drum with your MP3(convert to wav) or WAV.And now is sync!

...There are 47 brand new styles and 32 re-vamped styles from Ketrons XD series.

The brand new styles have been really tweaked especially the balancing of the drums. I really like the sound of them. It almost feels like your playing a whole different keyboard.

What ever Ketron did to create the sound and feel of these new styles is dead on! It would have been awesome if they would have redone all the styles with this balancing and used more of the new drum tracks.

The 32 XD styles are located in the unplugged section. These are pretty good, however no comparison with the brand new styles.

Robert Messier was heavily involved with the creation of 10 new styles for Ketron. Unfortunately, all of them were not included in the upgrade. Robert is a musicians musician when it comes to utilizing the Audya's full capabilities. Big mistake on Ketron's part not taking full advantage of Robert's talent!

The Organ Bebop style located in the swing section is my favorite. In variation 4 the drummer really shows his stuff. I increased the volume of the drum track to make the drummer stand out even more. If you like swing/boogie, you'll all enjoy this style! Fun stuff!

All in all, the upgrade was worth the wait. The new styles and the additional super solo voices alone are worth the upgrade. I noticed a few improvements in the OS also. I don't use midi files, so I can't comment in that area...

The AJAMSONIC package upgrade includes the following NOT found on the regular AUDYA series keyboards:-

• 120+ New Styles (USER STYLE Section – Styles start with the blue dot “ .”) with Human response and feeling using longer audio loops (i.e. 16 -32 bars long). Great new and modern Disco, Dance, Techno, Pop, Folk, authentic Caribbean (Zouk Love, Soca … etc), and African styles (Ndombolo, Makossa, Highlife … etc) developed and performed by Musicians from these respective regions of the world. The STANDARD package has 30 New styles.

• Compressor [Premium, and Deluxe Packages]. Finally, per our customers request, with the new compressor, you now have AUDYA sounding ‘tight’ with some studio feeling, especially on the new STUDIO AUDIO DRUMS. Feel the punch of the tighter kick drum, the noticeable snare or the precision of the high hat!

• Over 123 New Voices/Samples. 30 of these can be found in the PRESETS and PROGRAM Section – for Synth, Guitars, Sax/Brass/Woodwinds with new VCE-2 and RAM/INS (raw samples with no effects). With the optional 128 or 256MB RAM expansion, even more can be loaded at once from the Hard Drive. Play a voice, let Audya add characterization automatically suited for that voice, like human breath, guitar slides, run ups/downs, key off sampling notes, eliminate attack on legato notes where applicable … etc. These voices start with “AJAM” [Premium package with has extra voices not found in the Standard Package due to RAM expansion], “New” or “Live” when displayed on the screen in PROGRAM mode. The PRESET voices which incorporate these new samples also start with the word “LIVE” or “NEW” to distinguish them from the other factory voices. The STANDARD Package comes with 15 new voices and no RAM expansion circuit board.

• New ‘HUMAN’ voices recorded from choirs (You, Who, Whow ... etc) and some of these are also used to ‘accent’ relative styles, such as the new Gospel or Blues styles … etc.

• New Arpeggios. Originally only available on high-end Synthesizer Workstations, AUDYA now brings you new Arps which you can now play using distinctive lead voices – great for Modern Dance/Techno beats. These voices (believe it or not) can also be used by the Arranger bringing a sense of randomization to your music. They can be loaded from the DISK – INSTRUMENTS and start with ARP*.MSP (e.g. ARP_BRITE130.MSP) – where 130 is the suggested BMP of the style you want to associate this MSP with/to. Many of these are loaded when turned on and used in the new Dance styles… plus others.

• Corrected Original AUDIO Drums (Premium and Deluxe Packages). Now experience no Audio ‘skips’, spaces or freezes in the HD as you switch from Arranger to Arranger or call up a style on the fly. In some cases the AUDIO Drum loops have been re-truncated to ensure smooth transition between audio files being streamed when using the arranger. We listened to the request of our customers and made sure that all the Factory styles and users styles now sound ‘proper’ with no ‘hiccups’.

• Added Over 800 new Audio Drums. (450 in the Standard package). These are used with current Factory (corrected) and the New styles. These audio drums (about 480 Studio Live drums [120 in Standard Package]) include performances done by musicians both in Live Play situations and Live Studio settings! You will ‘feel’ the drums and not be driven away by them the minute you sit down and play with any of the new styles. Some of the factory styles have also been re-tweaked to incorporate these new exciting Audio Drums.

• New AUDIO Guitars which can be used with any style. These have been added to the existing AUDIO GUITARS table (seen when you press F5 from the STYLE VIEW Mode and use the Data wheel to scroll through them).

• New GUITAR MODE – Use your Left hand/chords or Right hand (when Pianist/Bassist is activated) to manually strum AUDIO GUITAR parts. Simply hold a chord and use any finger on the left (or right in Bassist Mode) to ‘strum’ AUDIO GUITAR live. The Audio guitar follows your strum style.

• New Chord Recognition Mode – Incorporated into EASY-2. Play a chord with a SINGLE FINGER and the Style plays complete chord, but any style with a vocal patch plays just the root of the Chord (used to introduce variation as you play).

• BALANCED all styles. Now, style volumes remain constant as you change from style to style. Great when performing live – sound man can ‘rest’ and not have to fidget with levels each time you switch from a style/song to another, even when switching between the various Arranger parts of the same styles.

• BALANCED all Voices so now, don’t be scared to switch from say a Sax to the Distorted guitar – all volumes are relatively even on all instruments.

• New TONE MATCHING FEATURE (Premium and Deluxe Packages) A TONE MATCHING feature has been incorporated into instruments such as the new Distorted and Rock Guitars, so the warm feeling of the amplifiers used to create these sounds is now present in the voice as well (by recording the signals from both the guitar itself and a microphone placed close to the amplifier to capture what your audience actually ‘hears’, AUDYA carefully manages both signals – depending on notes pressed and intermittence between notes pressed). Listen to the new Vintage and Rock Lead guitars to appreciate what TONE MATCH does!

• Re-Adjusted sensitivity on VCE and now Voice Character Emulation is used with many more preset and Program voices. Listen to the new Preset Alto Sax or Tenor Sax for an example.

• Voice Character Emulation - 2. Experience the world of realism when your trumpet comes to live with trills or your sax with the sounds of the valves and breathe of the player, or new Guitar sounds (e.g. Nylon, African Strato, Rock Lead … etc) with real fret or slides or body-tap or … sounds. Test this with all the new “AJAM”, “LIVE” and “NEW” voices as you play – press harder, slide up or down on keys or play legato or … etc. Without having a dedicated button/control, you focus on playing and let AUDYA automatically do the rest. If you don’t want any characterization added to a voice, simply play normally. The more you express yourself, the more AUDYA expresses what you’ve just expressed … musically!

• New start up features and balanced DSP for warmer natural sounds and also includes new Compressor settings.

• New VOCALIZER Settings. Now you can use vocalize with minimum feedback and basically no distortion on harmonized voices, thanks to the new algorithms included with this package!

• New VOCAL HARMONY HOLD (*) – A singer’s best friend. Sing and press a pedal (pre-assigned) to ‘hold’ the note you just sung, while you sing on top of the “sustained” note. The note(s) held could either be simply your voice or your voice harmonized by the ‘sweet ladies’ in your keyboard. Is there anyone who can help me how to edit the original factory voices? As I see it, you can only edit the sounds in the program, and it is my opinion not the same. I think the past could edit the factory voices and then save them under a new name, so you do not overwrite the factory voices.

Select a facory voice and press the button (e.g. F1) for more then 2 seconds. The Audya then automatically goes into the program mode, but you can edit the settings of the factory voice. Then press Save, and now you can select if you want save to disk or the the respective program. If you save to the program I would recommend to backup first all the program settings that you not loose them.

yes there is a way. I found it casually, but ketron don't want to tell people is dangerous for overvrite internal. if you want I can tell you how edit original preset, is simple, but please be carefull because you overvrite it else normaly you search the preset you want to modify, then press long time the key (f2-f3 ecc) and then you enter in program edit, but edit the preset, . of course then you must sate in slot program, if you have 1 voice too... in audya don't exist user voice. else as told you you can Overwrite the original preset. I do it because some sounds not balanced. (many guitar solo are very high level as example).

I try to record my music from audya digital S/PDIF OUT to my computer card, to get the best audio quality recording. Someone succeed on that task? There is 3 options for the S/PDIF OUT : OFF - SPDIF - MAIN

What is the difference between SPDIF and MAIN, and why this changes the SPDIF IN line too? WHAT is the s/pdif format? 44.1, 48? 16 bits? 24 bits?

For play follow this: From your card select (48 khz), and select EXTERNAL CLOCK from SPDIF.. Select in Audya from SPDIF OUT (MAIN) and make a check if play... If it is ok, select from your DAW the digital Input to Record from this.... Try this....

Yes.....With digital record, we have a very clean audio wav becouse is direct from Digital Convertor.... I use only SPDIF of Audya to record... However I avoid putting the sound card in MAX (63)… I record the digital wav in (42) volume, and from Cubase i make normalize, or Compression, Limiting etc....

The S PDIF is good to connect in a digital console <in a live gig or in a Studio>, or in a Sound Card to make a digital record.... This is a good method to you have a good clean digital wave in studio without noises etc....

One simple question:
haw to change octave on some instrument in Style edit mode.If I want to change octave for some instrument I push 2/7 buton and try to set octave to +12,but nothing hapened.Octave for that instrument stay the same.... Its there some global setings who I miseed somehaw or simply that function dosent work? I run a latest OS on my Audya 76.

The OCTAVE function in the STYLE EDITOR affects what you are about to record and not what has already been recorded (which can't be changed).

Yes, they did it!!!
Now, more than 2 years after the first release, my accordeon is now supported like on the XD3, I'm very happy, I'm now able to play w/o XD3. It is the interaction with the bass even if it is auto bass.

There are still some minor issues if you play manual bass, but it is ok.

sometimes I had a problem, let´s call it "lost in space".

I changed a lot of settings, forgot which one and could only find back with switching the Audya off and on again. Even with the new 4.2B with the "reset-feature" this took a lot of seconds.

The I found a simple solution :

Directly after powering on the Audya I saved a registration ( all features and sub-pages enabled ! ) as "1_st start".

Whenever I´m lost now : Just call this registration and all is fine.

Sometimes the normal "save for startup" does not seem to work as it should, but my registry works all the time

My Audya don't restart : i have a error message "INS ERROR, INSTRUMENT FILE CORRUPTED PRESS EXIT" but when I press EXIT, nothing !!!!!
I can't start my audya and have a gig this week !!!

Try to hold F10 and unplugged at the same time and power on the Audya,looks what happens,or hold F1 and turn on the Audya,you will see the hd with all his functions. Or another option,load the latest update again,4.2b from the website or your pc. Audyaplayer

it seems to me, that you´re loading INS-File(s) upon startup.

One on them seems to damaged.

Try to connect the Audya to a PC and then do "scandisk" ( or similar ) with the Audya-Drive.

Disconnect the Audya ONLY VIA "REMOVE HARDWARE / EJECT MEDIA".

Unplugging Audya without this method can damage the Audya´s filesystem !!!

"Last solution" would be to open the Audya, unplugg the harddisk and plug it to a PC directly. But that´s only a good idea if you know how to open the body and to dismount the drive. If you don´t have the skill to do that bring the Audya to your dealer !

try this:

1- Power on your PC
2- Connect USB cable from Audya to PC
3- Power-up the audya and wait until you see and USB icon in the display of the keyboard
4- Then do the upgrade

IF you still fail to see the Audya in you PC (my computer) then try:

5- Power-up you Audya holding down the F10 and Unplugged keys

My Audy is repaired !!! The only solution was to open it,get back the hard disk to connect it directely to my PC and delete the file.

Can some body explain what you can do with the "KEY Tune" option on the AUDYA?

I have no been able to understand what is for. I try to follow the examples in the manual, but still I am no able to make it work to see an example. I am really in the LIMBO in this one.

You can assign Wave files to different keys on the keyboar so that when you press the key, the assigned wave file plays instantly. Features such as HOLD are also applicable (Hold=OFF, when you release the key, the wave file stops playing; Hold=ON, when you press the key, the wave file plays and continues playing even after you release it). Wave files can also be assigne to be triggered when you play specific chords - great feature for MIDI accordionists!

if I would use my Audya as a "professionell" ( I´m only a "home-player" ) I would arrange my registrations in "decades".

That means :

0010 Song 1
0020 Song 2
0030 Song 3

and so on.

If you need more that one registration for a song just numer them with single steps.

I prepared therefore, enough MSP sounds and Programs, exclusive for Synthzone members, Ketron Audya Users….
For this project, I worked for about a month "sampling, editing, looping etc"...

All sampling is made from me...

It is the Part_1 and is 28mb and we have 13 New Programs....

Will we have two more Parts (PART_1, PART_2, PART_3)....

In folder I have a Text file with Slots of Programs, to you can put correct the MSP that I have made the Programs...

If your happy to load Sokratis Vintage Synths each time you start up the Audya I made all the files you will need:
DivShare File - sokratis_synths.zip


1) Download the zip file and unzip it to your desktop (or wherever)
2) connect the Audya to your computer
3) Back Up your "programs40A.prg" file (located in your Audya Hard Drive: SYSTEM/INIT )
4) Copy the contents of the "sokratis_synths.zip" to the audya making sure everything goes in the correct place:
- "sokrates.rbk" and the "vintage_synth" folder both go in ":/instruments" folder
- "programs40A.prg" goes in the ":/system/init" folder
5) disconnect your audya from you computer.
6) On the audya select the RAM INS button, then press the EDIT button.
7) scroll down until you see "SOKRATES.RBK" and press F8; A.Load ON (if its already ON, turn it OFF first)
8) Press EXIT again
9) Press SAVE
10) Select Custom Start Up.
11)Turn OFF the Audya and then Turn it back ON.
12) Press the PROGRAM button and then the Effect/SFX tab. You should have 1 and half pages of Sokrates excellent vintage synths.


I think that should do it.

Hi. Does anyone install SD, X1, MS styles converted for Audya from Ketron.it? I read how to install but still confuse, do we have to connect Audya to computer, or just use USP flash memory to transfer files? Thanks.

First You have to "unzip" the files to your PCs harddisk.

This files you can eihter copy via USB-Stick to the Audya or via USB-to-PC-connection.

If you use the USB-to-PC connection :

BE SURE THAT YOU USE THE "DISCONNECT HARDWARE" function of the Win-PC prior unplugging the cable !!!

, otherwise files on your Audya-HD may be corrupted !!!

Even though under Vista / Win7 this ist not necessary for "normal USB-Sticks or USB-HDs" : FOR AUDYA IT IS !!!

BTW: You sould, when using an USB-stick, copy the files form the stick to the Audya´s HD in one of the 10 "User_Styles" subfolders.

To work "as promised" a stereo-file is mandatory ! "Converting" a former mono to a stereo-file doesn´t work as well !

So no oldies ( lets say anything recorder prior 1980, maybe 1970 ) recorded in mono . YouTube is mostly as well not native stereo, so most files recorded from there won´t work either.

BTW: You´ll, depending on the mp3 file being used, always hear "a bit" of the original-vocal ( in detail : that parts, that are not panned to center ). So e.g. "Little Talks" ( Of Monsters and Men ) won´t work, besause the man an woman sing on the left and right channel as far as I remember.

thats not a bug, its supposed to be that way. It is not possible to play a classical guitar above B natural, there are no frets left. They are body and fret sound effects not toms

If you have a INS file of a Drum Set, in disk menu you simply need Load the file, and now the file is in the RAM, and you can see him in the drum set tab for ins.

The question is, how we can find or create news drums set in INS file format?

Once you've joined, go straight to the Ketron section. You'll find many hundreds of styles to be downloaded one by one. I guess these will be to your liking for what you do.

However, every so often you'll come across some bulk download links. It's amongst these that I found most, if not all of my "gems".

The fee required to join will most certainly be the best money you've ever spent for your Audya, that's a promise from me.

There might have been a mis-translation somewhere.

As of OS 3.0 and higher, whenever you want to install a new Ketron AUDYA upgrade simply ...

* Remove the old *.mem file (in this case AUDYA41b.mem) from your AUDYA's root directory (you should only have 1 *.mem file at a time in there).

* Copy the new OS file into the AUDYA's root directory (where you deleted the ol file from).

* Turn off AUDYA and while holding down F10 and UNPLUGGED buttons together, turn on. Release once you see the upgrade screen.

*** You do not need to re-install a previous OS in order to install a new one!!

One of my styles contains a ballad rhythm in variations A and B and a Rockabilly rhythm in variations C and D. When I press the STYLE VIEW I can do modifications on each variation when choosing the SINGLE option. I can change many things but unfortunately I cannot store different tempos for each variation. How can this be done ? Is it possible via REGISTRATION or is there another trick ? I would like to know how this works because I would need this feature also for a waltz/Polka combination in one style where a (slower) waltz is follow by a (faster) Polka in a medley.

I suggest to save the style with a new name directly in the appropriate subfolder of the main-folder "user styles"

This can be done via Registrations - you would require 4 different registrations though for just 1 song [not a problem as you can have as many as 9,999.00 Registrations) and as you call up each Registration (after say a drum fill), you will then start the next Arrangement (which has is's new Programmed temp0).

Does anybody know if it is possible to create a user style out of 2 different existing styles (e.g. Ballad on variations A and B, Rock`n Roll on variations C and D) without using a computer program ? If not, is there a computer program where this can be simply done ?

Yes you can from Edit Pattern of Audya.... Select a User style that you want.

Press EDIT to open Edit Pattern, and if you want to modify this style, or make a NEW STYLE from User 3/8... If you want NEW STYLE after make it, give a name with Keyboards, and press Exit...

Select now again the new style that you have make....
Select a Variation that you want copy, for example VARIATION 1, press F9 (Copy), press F4 to select from any User or preset style the part that want, press EXECUTE to copy....

Play and try if it's ok and press Save.... Your style is ready....

To create a new style, you must first of all access the PATERN EDITOR (by pressing the USER STYLE button, select any styles (using F1-F10) and press EDIT. Preferably, select a style which is already close to what you want to create.

* F1 should display ARR.A, F2 - PARAMETER, F3-MAJOR ... etc.
From this screen you have 2 options - either continue to modify the current style (by copying parts of other styles into this one and later save with a new NAME thus creating a new style), or create an entirely new style by pressing NEW STYLE U3/8.

* Press COPY (F9) and you will see the style to COPY parts from (LEFT COLUMN) and the style (yours) to COPY parts to (RIGHT COLUMN).

* Press F2 to highlight the Arranger Part (A, B...) from whom you want to copy a part or GLOBAL.

* Press F7 to highlight the Arranger part (A, B..) to which you want to copy a part or GLOBAL.

* Press F4 to select the style from which you want to copy parts. The style display page will be shown and you can use F1-F10 to select your style. After selection, AUDYA will return you to the PATTERN EDITOR page.

* F5 displays the name of the style you are copying FROM while F10 dispays the name of the style (yours) you are copying to and since you are already in the style,F2, F9 and F10 are not active in this mode.

* Press EXECUTE (U5/10) to COPY.. When done, press EXIT (U1/6) to get back to the PATTERN EDITOR MAIN PAGE.

* Test and repeat and when done, simply press SAVE and give it a new name with the keyboard.

This should do it ... same as what Sokratis 1974 mentioned above - just with a little more details!

I found finally out how to integrate external styles in the user styles. It is necessary to copy them (e.g. via PC)into the existing folders. Then when you have pressed the USER STYLE button you can choose the new styles out of the user styles in the different styles banks very easily. Combining styles is no problem then when following AJS instructions.

You just need to cut out the access to the power plug on the left side which is not a big deal.

Your performance on the keyboard can be recoded instantly into ...

1. WAVE (Simply press MENU - AUDIO RECORDING - WAVE, name the song and press START REC. You can then use the START/STOP to initiate your style ...etc. When done, press STOP REC. By default, AUDYA should return you to the folder (in this CASE wave) where the type of file you just recorded resides. This file is instalty ready to go and if you press ENTER (as file is highlighted) your file starts to play.

2. MP3 (same as wave above, but with MP3 being selected initially.

3. MIDI (similar to above, but if you record with any WAVE Drums or AUIO bass/guitar, these parts will not be recorded ... unless you go back and use the REMIX feature!

4. MACRO REC (this records ALL activity on the keyboard (including change from ARR, A, B, C ...Fills, swtching voices ...etc). This is great for file exchange between AUDYAs.

Need some info:

1- Have any body upgrade RAM on their Audya5-Audya4 (the standard is 64 mb with option to go as hight as 250 mb) ?

2- What kind of SIMMS the Audya use?

3- It have to be purchase from Ketron or can be purchase from a third party?

However I am not absolutely sure about this...

You will be able to upgrade AUDYA 4 and 5's memory regardless of if you have the AJAMSONIC upgrade/package or not, so no, you do not need to have the AJAM upgrade before you get the RAM expansion, but it will help to have it.

It will be available on one of the AJAM options so in that case, you won't need to purchase another memory expansion card again.

Sokratis is on the right path with regards to the upgrade mentioned above - however the memory package compatibility for each unit will depend on it's seial number.

does anybody finfd the output of the Audya series to be kind of low , do you have to adjust global eq and level?

Go to menu -> keyboard control -> f1 --> sound card level. Up to. 63

Half bar fills - I'm not sure if is it possible on audya 5 Maybe AJ know ?!?!?!

you might be able to do that by hitting the restart button at half bar of the part before the part where u want to half bar fill( it still will be full bar fill, but since u cut the previous bar in half, in effect it works), good example try playing "Desperado" it works for me.

The e-mails I received from Darren, helped me with two specific problems.

1. Audio output, Right or Left Channel not working.

2. Dirty Contact in the KeyBed.

If any of you have either of these two issues, maybe this will help.

First you need to know how to take the top off of the Audya and not be afraid to get into it.

With the top open, you'll need to support it upright. If you try to lay it flat it will put stress on the ribbon cables running from the bottom half to the top half of the case.

The wires, I believe 4 of them, that run from the soundcard to the top right pcb is where the audio out problem occur's.

The connector on the top needs to be unplugged and the connector prongs need to be cleaned with Alcohol and a Q-Tip.

About two inches out from that connector, you'll need a wire retainer clip that has a sticky base to stick on the case. A small zip tie is then used to secure the wires to the retaining clip. This prevents the connection from moving, wiggling, vibrating ECT. It forces a tight bond between the male and Female ends of the connector.

2. Dirty contact's in the Key Bed.

If you have this problem, here is a link to a video that will offer some help on cleaning the contact's and contact surface on the PCB.

The video show's work on a Kurzweil, however the contact system is very similar to the Audya.

- They are previously sliced.
- They are in the ROM of the instrument.

The Audio Drum:
- Is CD-quality audio file (44.1 kHz, 16-bit stereo).
- The are a intact file sync with the bpm tempo.
- You can put in the Audya your own Wav files (User Audio Drums).

Yes, the groove bank is it read only.

The groove bank appeared to complete with more realism the MIDI styles, with "live percussions".

In Audya, we can have a Style playing:

-> AUDIO DRUM + MIDI DRUM + GROOVE BANK (simultaneously!!!)
or
-> AUDIO DRUM + MIDI DRUM + MIDI DRUM2 (simultaneously!!!)

When you hit INTRO 2 while INTRO 1 is still playing, the KB goes to ENDING 2, it is also shown in the display.

A workaround could be the following:

While INTRO 1 is playing you hit the button REINTRO (possible only on the Audya 5). As soon the INTRO 1 has completely finished (important: the display shows "ARRANGER X" now, and not INTRO 1 anymore) you can hit INTRO 2 and the Intro 2 will be played instead of the ENDING 2. If you do this a bit rapidly, you don't hear a gap between the 2 Intros.

In the meantime, a 'work-around' is ...

STYLE - MODES (1/2) FILL to ARRANGER = JUMP
* PREESS INTRO and start the style.
* As INTRO plays, press FILL/BRK and press INTRO again.

Intro should start all over.

Does Audya4 have a feature comparable to the "user voices" the Ketron MS series had? Been exploring my Audya for awhile now and it doesn't seem to have this feature where you can "tweak" or adjust the properties of a particular voice and save it for easy recall.

Yes, but it's now included in the PROGRAM voices! When you select a voice and press EDIT, your voices (USER) are now stored in the program location.

In the older products, it was really 'duplicated' as they both shared the same tools - just in different locations and Programs were usually associated to LAYERS of voices.

In AUDYA, a PROGRAM voice can be anything from 1-4 [4, if you include 2nd voice] voices.

As a newcomer to Ketron, I just found a very helpful tool for singing and playing from backing tracks.

Say I want to lower the pitch of my SMF to better fit my singing range, but that puts me in an awkward key for playing. By going into Menue/Keyboard control/Pitch-Volume-Trans, I can switch Keyb Only Trans-ON. This allows me to transpose the keyboard to an easier key without affecting the player.

1- Does any know how to switch to lower case when inputting data on the Audya? I thought one of the note keys on the keyboard was the one, but I cannot get it to work.

2- I have noticed than if you are playing an MP3 then go to the search mode and find another MP3 wheh you stop the first MP3 you cannot start the one from the search screen. However if you get out of the search and select the MP3 in directory it will play. Has anyone seen this issue?

Press and hold down the ab / (Eb) key next to the [<-] / E key on the far right to enter in small letters.

The USB port on the back of AUDYA can be used for ...

A. Data transfer between AUDYA's Hard Drive and your computer (in which case MENU - MIDI - UTILITY - USB MIDI = "--")

OR

B. MIDI communication with external USB Midi divices (in which case USB MIDI = "ON".)

The ON/OFF is set by pressing F6 to toggle between both values.

I have notice that some styles has in variation D Riffs. How to do that with my own style?

The Riff need a special programming with change of chords, and you can activate with Style Compiler.... In Style Compiler exist a (button) that activate in Variation D the Riff that you have ready from host (Cubase, Logic, Sonar etc) midi style programming....

The Style is not SYNC with a wav, or vice-versa.

This is simply the wav running at the same BPM tempo.

You need to push the KEY at the same time of your beat, if not, it will not SYNC.

The Pa2x can SYNC to the beat of your style.

Can't.

From the EQ EDIT screen, select one of these (Factory, Loudness, Warm, Boost or Flat and edit (preferably the FLAT as this is the best starting point) ).

When done press U5/10 Save to save YOUR flat settings. If you want to ever recall the initial factory FLAT settings, simply return to the EDIT EQ screen and press U2/7 (DEFAULT).

I would appreciate some advise on the Audya 5. I will be using mostly styles for a while until I can sort out other features. The problem I am having is that some drum parts come out too loud on my system, (rimshot and snare for example) and I can't figure out how to reduce them. I asked AJ and he explained that the drum mixer does not affect audio drums, however the styles use audio drums. Some styles are not useable because of this. There must be an easy solution but I can't find it.

The partial-solution (OS3.0 and higher) is as follows:

* Select the style whose Audio drum's volume you want to 'edit'.
* Press STYLE MODE
* Press DRUM 1/2 (User 2).
* Use the Bass and Treble Freq (F3 and F4) to scan through until you get the frequency range of the instrument (e.g Hi Hat) you want to lower/increase.
* Press Bass Gain/Treb;e Gain EQ (F8/F9) and adjust accordingly.
* Press SAVE when done.

What I have to do to hear the differences between close/paral and normal/retr?

Close: from one chord to another, the notes move to new notes as close as possible to the original note. C to F will give you C-E-G TO C-F-A

Parallel: from one chord to the other, the notes just transpose. C to F will give C-E-G TO F-A-C
Normal: easy to hear with the bass. When you change chords, the Bass continues its pattern.

Retrigger: The Bass replays the root each time you change chord (it interupts its programmed pattern)

Retrigger is very helpful with a pattern, say a waltz, that has a I-V bass line and you want it to sound the I at the start of chord change.

In Folder User_Audio_Guitars exist the (UAG) Riffs...... However a riff will be have from 8 mb, 15 mb 20 mb becouse it have many samples....... It is bad for small 64 RAM of Audya......

With regards to changing the volumes.
* Select the style you want (Factory[User Style button off] or USER [User Style button on]).
* Make sure the arranger is not running (style is off).
* Make sure Key start is off.
* Press INTRO (or twice) for Ending and screen should display which part of the Arranger you're in (top left corner from default screen).
* Press STYLE VIEW - display shows all style parts (Drums, Bass, chords ... etc).
* Use F1-F10 to select the part whose volume you want to change (e.g F3 - Bass).
* Press < or > data buttons to change the volume [If User 5/10=Global, this change will impact all both Intro and Ending; if Single, it will impact just the part you're in).
* Use Data wheel to change voice (if you want).
* When done, press SAVE. If you overwrite name, it overwrites current user style. If you give it a new name, it creates a new style with these settings!

I've found that, for each onboard style, by adding i.e:

1. Different Audio drums
2. Different grooves for each variation - started using these & it's AWESOME!!!
3. Different audio bass tracks including their AWESOME riffs for each variation
4. Different loops for each variation for channel 4
5. Different audio live guitars for each variation
6. The ability to have my live guitars change on the fly purely by the way I press my chords
7. Assigning different vocal harmonies & settings to each variation

provide more than enough AWESOME variation for me, done on the fly & then saved as a single registration that also includes the style in the registration.

One simply selects ANY style found, and this forms only the very basis of what can be created. I can take the very same style, change all the above and you will not believe for the life of you that it started off by being the same style. The same can be done for any midi only style. I hardly use any onboard style as is anymore because of the ease I can create all the above with. And I become better at this with every style I change. Best part is, that whilst using this live, I can make more changes on the fly and simply re-save the registration before playing the next song. AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!!

Its not saving the slider settings

Can anyone tell me if the Blue dot beside the Save Slider should be ON or Off to save the setting. AJ tells me Off but some do not agree and I have obviously tried both but the volume of my registrations is still changing even though i save them every time.

So, is it Blue dot On or OFF guys??

My Audya 4 saves the registrations incl. the
sliderposition (the number, not the physical position) when I switch the blue dot to the "ON"-position. "ON" is the status when you can see the blue dot. (OS 4.1 B)

I think, that the physical Position (when you move one or more sliders) overwrites the saved constellation.

Hi, can anyone throw some light on my problem here with Audya 4 module -same as Audya 5 keyboard but no keys

When i try to assign the voices seperately via 1234 outputs I put the Kick to output 1 and then the snare to output 2 and then all other voices to 3
I press save so hopefully my changes will be saved. However , when i turn on the audya next time i find that it did not save my new output settings Where am i going wrong?

I just looked at your post a little closer and saw you made reference to the OUTPUT ASSIGN (SEPARATE) as per X1 and SD1/SD1Plus.

On the X and SD1 Series, you were able to go to OUTPUT ASSIGN and choose SEPARATE 1, 2, 3 4 [F5] which displayed a screen that had ALL arranger parts (Chord 1-5, Bass, Drum1, Drum2) and you could [for each one] assign to either output, correct?

On the AUDYA, this detail degree of assignment can't be achieved (as of OS 4.1 or earlier) ... the reason being that - in this system, the outputs are GROUPED such that each pair is routed to an effects bus, thus eliminating the loose of effects (as was experienced in the older SD1 and X series) when separate outputs are used simultaneously. This is why in the case of AUDYA, the outputs are GROUPED (1&2), (3&4), and Main (L&R) which 'limits' your capability to truely assign 'any' part to 'any' output, but rather you are compeled to use the parts displayed per output selected.

Hopefully this now better explains your delima with the output issues and I am sorry if I mis-understood your initial request ... a lot going on as you can see.

If your issue however is you have been able to get the outputs routed the way you like and you have followed the SAVE procedure (as outlined above by me and others) and somehow your machine is NOT saving your settings, you might need to have that unit checked (unless there is some other user setting/error I am not aware of at this time).

You can either assign the Drawbars to OUTPUT 3&4 or Main Output.

In Audya exist two Groove banks....
1) Groove (like SD_series) and it need programing again if you want to change.....
Becouse the Groove have slice samples (like Recycle) it need in every time programing for to play...
2) Groove_Bank it is ready to play when you play Start in any style....Select any groove_loop and it is ready.....
To select Groove and Groove_Bank press F2 two times

In preset sounds, it is impossible to change the effects.... You can change effects only in Programs... But if you want you can to change the Master effect that has difference when you change him....

PRESS MENU/DSP/select any effect if you want/EDIT/select algorithm of effect (for example REVERB)... Now....When you press REVERB in this page exist a certain settings:
From RIGHT_LEVEL you can to give level in effect
From RIGHT_REVERB wnen you press it opens the program (algorithms) of effect.

Select any preset alforithm or from the next page, select USER/EDIT to make a your setting if you like and when you finish press SAVE for save your User algorithm and when is all ready, press EXIT and press SAVE button/CUSTOM SETTING to save all your settings...

Play midi, then press GM PART, 16 PARTS(user 4), select what track you want, MUTE (F5), save buton and select part end mix(F3), rename if you want and press save(user5).

This doesn't (and won't) work in Ketron because Ketron sounds are designed to try and emulate/copy the original instrument ("Best Natural Sounds" is our goal).

A bass Guitar doesn't 'naturally' have endless sustain.

yes! there is a simple software very easy to use, you press "convert" and it save korg sounds into ".ins" format. ahah not exist

you can do it only manually, convert korg sounds in wav and then load into msp of audya. with big big limitation. actualy you cannot create .ins, only msp, with only mono file and no layer. the fast way is to resample the note from korg (play the note you want to record). split into left righ if it's a stereo sound. create 2 msp with left and right sounds and mix it in a program (then you have only 1 free sound ) of course the result will never be good because the msp editor is very very bad sorry

First of all, you'll have to confirm if indeed the harmony 'chords' for the midifile were recorded on track 4 or 3. When confirmed, set the Vocalizer track of AUDYA to match this and it should work. Depending on the Midifile, the harmony track differs.

I must ask this question again because I have never got any good answer on it, maybe AJ can give me an answer. Say for ex. I have a midifile in C maj. and have transposed it 2 step D maj and I have also on channel 4 set the vocal to midimode and the keyboard is also transposed 2 step so I can play in C maj. than in the midifile I have a transpose before the last vers, I will continue to play in C maj so I transpose only the keyboard 1 step and so far it´s good but my question is, why is the vocalizer affected when I transpose the keyboard, the vocalizer is still in midimode and nothing else in the midifile is affected?

The vocalizer is afected because of the transposition.

Your Midi controller/keyboard Global/Right Midi out channel needs to match the Global/Right Midi in Channel on AUDYA-4.
* Menu
* Midi
* Channel Rx (receive).
==> Check your Midi OUTPUT on your controller and match AUDYA's RIGHT Midi in to that channel. Default is usually "1".

If i try 4 msps, 1 bass,2-guitar,3-accordion,4-sax, they are mixing togeter, the notes from one enters in the other but if i load these msps twice, 1-bass,2-bass,3-guitar,4-gitar etc. the first msp has the mentioned problem but the second works fine, loading them twice i lose space and RAM memory and it is small,fine from MSP sampler works only on plus and not on minus.What should i do?

You can use multi samples and multi layers if you use the samples in the Program mode. This way you can layer up to 3 at a given time.

I just got my Audya and can't find any rotor speed adjustment. The Gospel and Rotor organs are quite good, but the drawbar fast speed is not right at all.

The user can't adjust the rotor speeds when using the drawbars ... just yet.

If you know, how to make Drums programming in your DAW (for example Cubase, Logic, etc) you can make export (WAV up 16 Bars) the markers that you have made in your DAW (Variations, Fills, Breaks, etc) and it copy in disc of Audya, in folder USER_AUDIO_DRUMS....
It you can to put in any styles that you want, from Style View....
A diferent way is to searching loops from CD,s and whoever loop if you like, copy also this, in disc of Audya and you can, be put in any styles....
The markers of User_Audio_Drums it will be put from Audya, with automatic way with length of Loop.....Of course if it correct your loops.....

When you have your sampler that you want to create please folow this steps:

1) PRESS THE (WAV) BUTTON AND PRESS (EDIT)

2) SELECT A WAV FILE AND PRESS ENTER (your samples your it will be supposed, they have name with the keys tone (for example C_3, D_3, E_3.....etc)

3) WITH KEY (F1_START) sets the start of note range on the keyboards

4) (F2_END) sets the end of the note range

5) (F3_KEY) sets the basic pitch (original tune of note)

6) (F4_PITCH) it can de TRACKING, that is tuning, for each dutton of the keyboards, or FIXED that is with fixed pitch for any keys of the keyboards (for example a Drums sample)...

7) (F8_END_POINT) sets where the sounds ends.

8) (F9-START POINT) sets where sounds loops (looping)

When finisch press SAVE give a name and it will be saved in MSP folder.
For more information please look the manual in 115 page..

hi sokatis, I have 2 question and some comments:
1. it's normal that msp editor work with wave only in mono mode (you can add mono or stereo files but the final .mps will be always mono )?
if is true, than never can create good stereo sound, I can't believe !( only mix 2 mps in program but no sense)
2. often my file mps after created and saved (I tested with only 3-4 notes too) work fine but after reboot audya tell "this is not a valid .mps " and cannot load cannot edit. must make new.
About .ins i'm italian, and I talk with a big person of ketron that I suppose you know it. he told me they think about release a software for make .ins. but only think at moment and now total silence.
I don't believe need hardware. is only software for mix wave ecc.
the internal msp editor is very very bad. it's impossibile to create stereo sound, impossible to create a multilayer sample.. and of course if we create a drumkit (with only mono sound !) you cannot mix with internal drum sound. so... bad
I want to found 1 people that have create a good piano or good guitar msp file. it's impossibile without multilayer, without stereo... mps editor is for only for game with it
