Hi Scott. Tying in 'most requested' and 'changing trends' it's a bit odd that old chestnuts like Jambalaya, Let It Be Me, Mustang Sally, Rescue Me, and Kansas City seem to be requested more often, so I don't know that trends really are changing that much. Maybe, after 30-40 years of playing those, we've got them in decent shape:D.
Our audiences, regardless of age, excluding the under-30 crowd, seem to like anything from the past 50 years. That's certainly something that couldn't be said of my generation when we came along.
Even the 'newest' songs we do are hardly up to the minute - Movin' On Up by M People, Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran and Can't Get You Outta My Head by Kylie Minogue are, what, 15-20 years old now. But, in the main, we're still doing songs we did years and years ago, and people still love 'em. Maybe oldie radio stations have something to answer for, but it's more that people are comfortable with the familiar. And if that's what they want to hear, who am I to argue that?
Like most of us on the forum, we aim at having something for everyone. An impossible task really, but we get close.
On personal favourites, and we like them all really, or else we wouldn't be doing them, hmmm let me see:
Till I Am Myself Again - Blue Rodeo (good country rock) Flip, Flop and Fly - Downchild Blues Band (swingin' little number) Riders on the Storm - Doors (weird wind and elastic guitars, plus a good Wurly EP) Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran (more effects craziness in the break) I'm Not In Love - 10cc (for the harmonies) Hollywood Waltz - Eagles (pretty tune) Rudy's In Love - (a one hit wonder UK reggae band, I just like it)
That's a few off the top of my head but, like I said, I love 'em all.
Cheers, 124
