Here's my cocktail hour playlist. I find young and old alike enjoy listening to these classics:

Begin the Beguine
I will wait for you
I'm in the mood for love
Ebb Tide
I wish you love
I've got you under my skin
Fly me to the moon
The way you look tonight
Moonlight Serenade
Never on Sunday
Never can say goodbye / Never Knew Love like this before
Over the Rainbow
Girl from Ipanema
Satin Doll
Misty
Take the "A" Train
Songbird
Europa
Shaker Song
Just the Two of Us

I do not sing on cocktail hours, but I am really a singer and sing most of these songs generally. I play oldies, current stuff, like Jason Mraz I'm yours, etc. but I try to play these standards to keep them alive and in peoples memory.

"keeps them feeling young and up to date with the current music."

Scott, great list of songs, and I do a lot of them, but I don't see anything approaching current! About the newest are at least 40 years old.
I do agree that they are mostly better than a lot of the new ones!

Ok, perhaps not 2011 hits, but they're under 6 years old, and even I consider these (of which I listed above in the 'contemporary pop' section) current. grin

I'm Yours (2008) - Jason Mraz
You're Beautiful (2005) - James Blunt
Bubbly (2007) - Colbie Caillat
Grenade (2010) - Bruno Mars

Hi Guys
what would be really handy is what actual styles are you using for these songs or if you don't quite want to be that specific , (trade secret haahaa ) what type of style .

Great list of songs, my biggest dilema is usually trying to pick a style to suit.

Hey Rikki, long time no speak!

I have all my styles setup in my MF database. I'll have to jot them down or use one of Michael B's utilities to print it out. I'll need a day or so to do that.

Thank You Scott
for going to all this trouble.

Some of those style names sound similar to styles I have for my old psr1500 . Certainly won't sound as good as a Tyros , but at least it gives a rough idea of what works.

Hi Al,
I haven't been around for a few months. Had a bit of a musical break. Got offered a new keyboard the other day ( to get me out of the doldrums), so now I have the problem of deciding what to get, if anything.
Descisions Decisions haahaa.

A lot of the songs you & Scott play really appeal to me.
I luv the old 40'50's type music.
