I have not heard the VR so I will not attempt to make a comparison, but I am using a Workstation EX and have had nothing but compliments on the harmonies ... nothing 'robotic' sounding at all ... However, I only use the harmonies to fill-in and accent certain parts of the song, not to replace my own voice (although some may think I should ) ....
As with any other gear, try as many different ones as you can to see how they fill YOUR needs, in both sound and operation .....
