Cameras and arranger keyboards have a lot in common - they're only as good as the person behind them.

One of the most famous outdoor photographers on the planet and a longtime friend, Lefty Kreh, taught me a lot about photography. He had a couple books published on the subject, and I have them here in my office. He placed a huge emphasis on composition, particularly foreground options and until 15 years ago, he used nothing other than Nikon cameras and lenses. He stuck with Nikon when he switched to digital and has sold hundreds of thousands of photos, including thousands of magazine covers to many prestigious publications, including National Geographic.

Lefty passed away yesterday from congestive heart failure at age 93. He was a living legend in the outdoor world and I will miss him more than I can describe in mere words.
