OK, I give up trying to use the editor on my Tyros for songs I've recorded live (same was true with my PSR 2000). I recorded MIDI songs back in the 80's with first generation MIDI programs on my Mac Plus that were MUCH easier to use than the Tyros editor. Granted, the Tyros uses a hardware editor, but this is also 20 years later.
Don't get me wrong. I love the Tyros. I just find it impossible to edit songs with its built-in editor. I've only been able to edit single notes when I'm lucky.
One thing in particular that I don't understand is why it won't accept transpose changes when recording in real time. How do you do that? And punch in and out does NOT pick up the accompaniment. Is there some secret to that?
The manual is really lame when it comes to specific instructions for recording. And I have not found anything online that goes into the details of editing songs using the Tyros editor. It's probably too much of a nightmare for anyone to even explain.
I'm ready to buy a modern PC-based sequencer. I've held off for a long time. I just want something to edit my songs - mostly fixing simple mistakes like chords, single notes, and transpose. I don't need lots of features.
Can I record real time on the Tyros, then edit it easily in a sequencer on my PC? Or should I record directly to a sequencer on my PC? What program should I buy? Cakewalk? Does OMB do this?
May the voices of experience on this forum help me!
