Chips soldered to the board instead of using chip sockets.... another 5 cents saved by Yamaha !!! As I advised Don, if you can live with the original OS don't bother looking for an OS update for the 2000 if indeed these chips are soldered in rather than placed in easily removable sockets. It is NOT worth the time, effort, or expense (you will probably have to pay for shipping even if the replacement is "free" under warranty).

I don`t know if you read my mail, but I sayed the chips are soldered on
because there are SMD Masked Rom, people here have to send their PSR2000 to
Yamaha Headquarter in Rellingen to Update.
