The problem is that the music stand was never intended to hold those monster books--just individual sheets. Fortunately, one of the PSR Tutorial members figgured a way to midify the stand so it will hold a heavy book and then some. You'll find the details by going to the PSR Tutorial then clicking on Projects and finally the Music Rack. Lots of support and not a chance of cracking the slot again.
Additionally, reglue the board with Crazy Glue--it's good stuff.

Larry I built the reinforced stand as outlined at the PSR tutorial. That reinforced piece works very well. I sold the 3000 recently but I may have some pictures of it somewhere. I will e-mail them to you once I find them.
