I'm NOT complaining, but . . .
I've done doubles every day this week, and tomorrow I have a triple, two hours, two hours and four hours. I am hoarse from all the singing.
I'm sure Gary has a remedy. What will help besides rest. I'll get that Sunday.
Thanks,
Don

Don ... I'm sure Gary would have other "kickapoo" remedies, but hot tea with honey and lemon should help ... and Hall's Mentholyptus Cough Drops between verses ...

Don....when I used to have that problem, I found that when I sprayed my throat with
Cloryseptic (spl) every twenty minutes or so
would greatly help me get through it all...
it comes in both Cherry and Mint liquid with
a pump spray top....try it...god luck....

You can also try to keep warm your neck with a tie. You can do it cumulative to that what Tony Mads said. To be hoarse means to have a little ignition in throat. So, keep your neck warm. The body's own heat is one of the best healer!
Get well soon, Don! I want to HEAR so many more stories of you...

Last month I had a run of 10 day straight with a couple of doubles thrown in. The voice was undependable at best. I wasn't sure if I was worn out, getting sick or had allergies.

So, I vegetated during the day, drank warm tea with honey and lemon. Gargled white vinegar in warm water (Ugh). And before each job gargled with aspirin. I guess it helped. I made it to a 3-day break and that is what really did the trick. There is no substitute for giving your voice a rest after it has been overworked.

I would do what Eddie says and also take 2 ibuprophen every 2 hours until I had taken 8. Ibuprophen is an anti inflamatory drug and I'll bet your vocal cords are inflamed. I would take them with food. Just as a side note Don, if all you are going to play is country music what difference does it really make? Right Boo?

Tom,
Are you working tonight? Maybe if you mixed in a little country with the boring stuff you would be!

Eddie has the cure.

Do NOT use Cloreseptic as it will do long term damage to your throat. This was told to me by a voice coach.

Don...I would suggest gargling with some warm water.
You may want to try and drink a little tepid water with some honey in it also.
At least this has worked for me when I've done a theatre run of 10 to 12 shows.
Nothing ice cold, as much as you might want to, it'll only tighten up your vocal chords and constrict everything, so again...nothing too cold.
Good luck, and Good Show!!
