It only takes a few mouse clicks to convert an
XF MIDI File into a professionally formatted Fake Book Lead Sheet with the Chord Symbols.
Any MIDI File that you record on a Yamaha Arranger Keyboard is automatically saved in the Yamaha XF format which is an extension of the Standard MIDI File format.
The XF Format includes the Chords that are used to drive the auto-accompaniment styles. Small SysEx message are used to embed the Chord information as Chord Meta Events.
Notation Composer 4 is one of the few Music Notation programs that can read and write Yamaha XF Files.
You can open any XF MIDI File into Notation Composer 4 and see the Chord Symbols on the Score sheet. This Chord information is retained when you export to the
MusicXML format.
You can open this MusicXML file in
Musescore and use its advanced formatting tools to output a beautiful PDF Fake Book Lead Sheet.
Here is my 99-page Guide that walks you through the entire process.
