Hello All,

I hope I am finding you all well smile

I've recently purchased an SD7 after a long absence from owning a Ketron instrument, my last one was the X1 many moons ago.

For the most part I enjoyed the X1 for the little time I had it, but this is one hell of an exceptional sounding instrument and I am still taken back at how fantastic it sounds. I am so glad I made the choice.

I'm still learning my way around the OS and I've somehow managed to figure out a few things myself without having to ask which surprised me since I have heard that it's got a steep learning curve, but so far I've found it pretty straight forward with some trial and error.

My first query though now is regarding the User Style folder. I want to add more styles to the internal storage (I think it's 12 gig in size?), and I can see there is a USER_STYLE folder, but within this has names of folders from the factory banks and I wanted to create my own but can't seem to see how? Does this mean I can only put styles in these default banks only or can I create my own folder and have it selectable from the styles category?

Thank you very much for any help.

Danny.

Hi Danny,
I currently use a Ketron SD40 module. I previously owned 2 of the SD7 keyboards and loved them. You asked about the USER-STYLES but I want to tell you a key thing to do with the USER-VOICES to avoid a lot of trouble down the road.

Within the USER-VOICE folder put a number, starting with 01, in front of every user voice.
The SD7 OS looks for user voices used in styles according to the position they hold within the folder- they are not saved within the style itself.

I have many self made USER-STYLE folders I created. You go to disk edit and add them. Or you can connect to a computer and add them.

Good luck with the SD7. It is an awesome keyboard.

Deane

Hi Deane, does this mean that if i renumber the voices in the user folder to my liking, they will appear that way on my launch pad?. E.G if i put 01 in front of "AltoSax", it would display first when i select brass?

Hi Deane,

Thank you very much indeed for your reply and help. Noted regarding the User Voices but I don't have any but I will bear that in mind.

What I am wanting to do is edit some styles and save them with my own settings ideally in my own Style folder, which I have now managed to do, called it Danny1 for example. But when I press the USER button on the display I only still see the style banks from the default banks and not my folder. I presume then that any newly created folders with styles I would have to access them from pressing the Media button as that's how I've been doing it so far.

The other thing I wanted to ask, as much as the styles on the SD7 are amazing, they are limited in selection I feel. There are a number of styles that I would have liked, especially in Ballads, Dance, Pop, those sorts of area's and not been able to find the correct one I need. Of course we've been very spoilt with the huge selection from Yamaha (not only user but also premium styles and packs from Yamaha themselves) which I tried to search for Ketron but couldn't seem to find any that Ketron sell? I would like to try and build a fairly extensive style collection for the SD7 too, perhaps not the 1000s in Yamaha proportions but just enough to say I can cover most of the songs I'd like to play. Do you know of any place where I can get some additional styles from?

Thank you very much indeed.
Danny.

DannyUK.

Welcome back to KETRON.

1. HOW DO YOU CRETE YOUR OWN USER STYLE FOLDERS?
You cannot create your own User Style sub-folders (well...you can but you won't be able to access them as the regula USER styles. So what you do is simply copy YOUR new styles into either of the EXISTING USER_STYLE folders (e.g if you have a Country style, you will copy that into the USER_STYLE/COUNTRY folder. If you have one that does not fall into any of these existing categories, I suggest you use USER_STYLE/Unplugged folder. Now, to access/play these, simply press the STYLE button or touch the top left box to display the style groups. IF the USER icon is off, this means all access you currently have are to the FACTORY styles. Touch the USER ICON to turn that on ... then access your styles by touching the corresponding icon - e.g. COUNTRY for the user styles you placed in the COUNTRY subfolder... etc.

Please watch this video (part of a series) until the end to get a better understanding as it explains EXACTLY what you requested above and further goes into how to load new styles into the SD7:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehYD3CZ-kKc

2. HOW DO YOU GET MORE STYLES AND HOW DO YOU ACEES THEM?
At KETRON USA, we developed more professional styles in various packages for the Western Market or those seeking to play tunes from the 50's, 60's, REAL BALLADS, POP, FUNK, GOSPEL, COUNTRY ... etc.

These can be purchased as part of the AJAMSONIC Package and additional GOLD STYLE packages found here:- http://www.ajamsonic.com/styles.htm

Another example of the just-released NEW COUNTRY STYLES:- http://www.ajamsonic.com/countrystyles.htm

You can reach out to us at KetronAmerica@AjamSonic.com for more information or call 267-323-5005.

Thanks,

Thank you again AJ, I really enjoyed your tutorial video especially the explanation of user styles. I am definitely interested in purchasing the ajamsonic package, one with everything as I want as all the styles and sounds that’s available. One question before I purchase, if I install the styles as per the automated zip file method will this override anything already in those user styles folders or just simply add to what’s already there ?I do currently have user styles in those folders already so I didn’t want to lose anything.

Also are all 3 packages different ? Or is there one overall package that covers everything?

Thanks AJ.
