I am about to connect the power to my KN7000 through a plug set up that will turn the power on and off from outside the KN7000. Will that create a problem by switching the power off and on this way rather than using the KN7000 switch all the time? I am thinking about XP's need to switch the power off thru the Operating System all the time rather than just turning off the power.

Thanks for the info.

Should not cause any problems Larry. The switch on the KN7000 completely disconnects the power to the internal power supply unit, so it matters not whether this switch is internal or external.

The KN7000 floor model that's in our store is switched on and off that way, I haven't had a problem with it, and it's been in use since August.

Thanks everyone for the info. I feel better now that I know it will not hurt the keyboard.

Hi,
If no problem with switching off from mains, what power holds the panel memory for about one week and Composer memory for 80 min? See page 198 of the manual.
I always assumed that with mains power on but instrument switch off there was some designed leakage that allowed for the holding of memory. Or is there an on-board battery or condenser setup?
regards
Keith

I use outside switching wherever I can to save the wear and tear on the Keyboard switches. For example:

Outside main power switch
Headphone socket - I use an additional socket switch
USB outside switch
etc

When a switch wears out, I can replace it with a Radio Shack appropriate switch instead of wearing out an internal switch on the Keyboard.

Everything wears out eventially if used enough.

Its worth a word of warning about leaving any electronic equipment switched off on standby but with power still on from the mains plug. These include TV's which many people always leave on standby even through the night whilst asleep.
I had a bad experience whilst staying in a hotel, the room next door had left their TV on standby and in the early hours it burst into flames. This caused think plastic smoke. I had to cover myself in a wet towel to escape.

The morel is TONIGHT switch of at the wall mains plug.
