1-Learning about new equipment.
2-How players handle their playing jobs.
3-Personal opinions about the different keyboards.
4-To connect with other people.
5-To have a place to share my feelings about stuff.

#4 is my biggie, followed by #3

List is too short and to simple. I think there is a lot more to musicians than this. Would be nice to see people behaving their age and not be whining babies. I am not saying particular in here, but in general as man or women or whatever we think we are.

I especially enjoy hearing other's performances. It's great hearing a variety of keyboards and approaches. Often times, I get inspired to learn new songs after hearing my fellow SZer's performances.

To stay connected with other musicians....see what others do for a hobby or living and how they do it.

To advocate for versatility....lots of ways to play and make a living.

I arrived here about 12 years ago, hoping to learn from the pros who frequent this forum on a regular basis, and learn I did. I learned a lot from Uncle Dave, Donny Pesce, Don Mason, Fran Carango, Eddie Shoemaker, Hank Bowman, Joe Ayala, Tony Madalone, and a host of others. I took the time to drive the length of the United States to visit many of them, watched them perform, took notes, and launched a very successful musical entertainment business. Their knowledge took me from entertaining just 2 times a week to as many as 10 times a week. I learned a lot.

Unfortunately, the only thing I had to offer in return was my technical knowledge of Yamaha arranger keyboards, their operating systems and how to convey that information via the written word. (Also via telephone.) Consequently, I was not able to help those that owned other brands of keyboards as much as I would have liked.

This forum has allowed me to meet some wonderful individuals over the years, and I only wish I could find time to visit more of them in person.

Thanks everyone,

Gary cool

I'm sure most would agree, Gary, Don, Dave, Donny, Tony and others are MAJOR reasons to be involved here.

The best to all this Christmas,

Russ
