Hi Bill, congratulations on your new flight case. cool
Just how much does it actually weigh? confused1

I'd estimate less than 10 pounds more than the old Tyros case. Understand, that I carried some back up stuff in the compartments of the tyros bag and do not do that with this new one.

It is absolutely heavier, but so far hasn't bothered me at all.

Just weighed my now fully empty old Tyros case. It came in at 18 lbs.

I'd guess that the new roadrunner weighs close to 25 - 30 lbs.

Hi Bill & Beakybird

I'm glad you found something you like according to your specific criteria. They are well built. No question about that.

I had actually seen this case a few years ago when GC started carrying it. I just came from GC to see if I had another possible choice for my specific criteria for a case. Unfortunately, it does not fit my specific needs for the same reasons I remembered from my initial checking it out. In this case it boils down to weight and price.

I do now remember lifting that case already the first time and set it down in about five seconds. I thought maybe there was a new model or something. I would say it weighs more than twice the weight of the case I've been talking about from nycase co. That means it weighs around 30 pounds.

My Kaces case, weighs 19.25 lbs and the Roadrunner case is a lot heavier feel to me.

Bill, as for the ones we talked about at nycase co, I agree about the you bought it it's yours thing, but, I figure, worst case scenario with this is, you get it and it's not to your liking, it could easily be resold on ebay or craigslist. If the company goofs then of course they take it back.

Tony, the case you mentioned is being sold on ebay by casekits. There are also these same type cases sold by nycase co, island, pockettrunks and thecasestore. They are all made by Hyrid Case Co in Holbrook NY. When I asked the guy at nycases about that he said they are all different divisions of the same company. My guess is it's possibly different distributors who have Hybrid drop ship the cases. It is cheaper to buy them from the "different divisions' rather than buying direct from Hybrid cases. So, I suppose they get a lower rate because of the volume they sell.

The other criteria that's important to me here as mentioned is the price of the two cases I have narrowed things down to.

This one will weigh between 15-20 lbs I was told by their rep. It sells for $119.95 with free shipping. If I wanted to make it a little deeper to accommodate a Tyros 3 or 4 it was an extra $25.

This one weighs between 10-12 lbs for $99.95, free shipping.

The reason they are so light in weight is because they use luan plywood, a lightweight and sturdy material.

One thing I did check was the feedback, which is very good. I then looked through a number of pages for people who bought for a Tyros or other keyboard. The feedback was all very good. I also emailed a few buyers to get their opinion direct. All results were good.

I have seen a local band use the first case I listed. It was for a different keyboard, slightly longer and narrower. I lifted it and figured it did weigh about 15 lbs. I had a band member give their weight estimate and he figured 15 lbs also. This band uses a bunch of cases by nycase co and they told me they would never do business with anyone except nycase co.

Diki, you are correct about the Tyros case situation. It's a crock. They make a $6000 instrument and it's an odd size. There ATA case made my SBK or whoever that is weighs more than the frickin' keyboard.

The amount of time we Tyros owners have to spend to find a decent case, and sometimes find out the hard way is a sorry situation.

I also know a lot of Tyros owners have bought the Gator 76 soft case, which sells for $150 and weighs 25+ lbs. For a soft case yet.

One nice thing about Guitar Center is they do have a return policy juggle

Hi Beakybird

I see you are talking about a bag or soft case???? It seems you used to use the Kaces KB9 like a lot of us Tyros owners. What is the quality like in comparision? How about the weight?

I did email the Roadrunner case co to find out the exact weight of their 61 and 76 ATA case.

Mine I take down to Publix and weigh it on their scale.

Can you please post the inside dimensions of the case, as well as the overall weight?

Thank you.
