IMO all STS sounds have to be customized, thats what I did....you have to make it YOUR ARRANGER not what they want you to play.

Donny,
I think you are right - the sounds are just to good to not be able to put together a great sounding system. Fact is I really like the keyboard - and I really want it to work for me so I will give it my best shot and along with the help from the members here it should go well.

Just takes time and learning.

Hammer that's pretty much what I've been doing as well. You brought up a good point in your comment when was the last time you heard a jazz organ with Stan Kenton or Woody Herman ? I have found certain voices that are my favorites and use those for STS settings. It's a bit of work, more tedious than difficult to do. Good luck.

I pretty much
make a Stock "style template", for all your "GOTO" styles, customizing, tweaking all Parameters, STS, then use that SAME template to make all the songs you would use with it....this will speed up the process....then down once you have them in your Reg, Songbook, HD etc etc you can go in and maybe change a few OTS/STS etc to your specific needs in a song.

Hi Hammer,
possibly have to choose some of your own sound settings.

Just out of curiosity,is your PA1x able to load PA800 styles?? or only prior models.

There's some pretty good style editing / creating tools on the Korgs, but I suppose not everyone has the spare time to do that.

Hope you find what you're after, they're really great keyboards.

best wishes
Rikki

Hammer , the PA1X can accept all the PA800 styles with minimum if at all tweaking. serach on the Korg forum for the thread on PA800 styles and then simply click on the link and download them. Its unfortunate that the existing styles are not sufficient for your needs but finding appropriate styles on the net should be no problem.

I think I have all the PA800 styles on the hard drive - I will check today and confirm.

By the way - I stopped in at a local GC store yesterday and played the PA800 for about an hour - seems like it is an entirely different keyboard than my PA1X. I don't believe it sounds any better but there were some styles that I haven't heard before.

Does anyone know how to force the volumn control for the sliders to be on by default and stay on - on my PA1X it goes on or off with variations within a style - a real pain if you try to adjust a tracks volume on the fly and the button is off.

A big thanks to Tommy - the PA90 elite styles are a whole lot better than others I have tried and i can probably make a bunch of the work for my gigs. Deeply appreciated.
The big band styles are much better than others i have found.

Graham,

Yes I did post these styles (from the Pa80 Elite) on createsongstyles.com, but I think that the post got lost when the site was restructured some time ago. I will reupload the styles to createsongstyles.com later today.

Kind regards,
Tommy
