So Gary...let's see[sound like Randy on American Idol].....we buy the lightest compact laptop to use on the gig, and now we need this very stable but oversized, hard to store stand......seems like the wrong direction to go......How about you Simon...what do you think?

I have one in my studio but I use it to hold an aux digital mixer.....and you're right Fran, it is well made (read HEAVY) but waaaay overkill for a laptop. Maybe a tabletop module.

Fran,

You forgot to say "YO, Baby! What's up? What's going on dog?"

This may be something for folks that do not have the mechanical skills to construct a laptop platform similar to Donny's, Dave's or mine, all of which are different. We don't really need one, but there are lots of individuals that may benefit from the post.

Well Simon, how do you vote on this one?

Cheers,

Gary

Heavy Duty Velcro...... You'd be amazed at how strong and durable that stuff can be! Especially the kind that is plastic on BOTH parts, rather than plastic and cloth.

The important thing is to prepare the surfaces with degreaser of some kind before you apply the Velcro, and then give it a day to adhere properly before you add and remove the other piece. I had stuff that was supporting quite a bit of weight, and taken apart every day, and the velcro lasted several years!

For those of you that hate keyboard 'bounce, especially the super light 'portables', heavy duty velcro the keyboard to the stand, and all becomes one. Much more stable...!

A million and one uses..... now a million and two!

For some reason I was unable to find the weight of the stand on the site. Does anyone know for sure what this thing weighs?

I see this as a very cool laptop stand for use in, say, the living room, setting the laptop next to your overstuffed chair and easily pulled out for use and placed back when done.
Other than that I would not want it for stage use of a laptop...
But a cool portable item anyways, for many applications..

I need a laptop stand for the motorhome for using the GPS in the laptop with the 17 inch screen.
I was told to look at Jottodesk.com
but they don't have any specific for RV's and they want an arm and a leg for theirs.
Any suggestions?
