Here's 2 short examples of Roland's use of velocity switching within their drum kits, and the use of natural effects such as snare buzz on the toms, and use of ghost notes.

This first one I just played on the fly. Pressed record on my Fostex, and went from there I used the Rock Kit. Listen to the toms, and you'll hear natural snare buzz. The bongos will also show the velocity switching.

This second demo are the (TOMS) from the "Jazz Kit". Pay close attention to how the sound of the tom deepens, pops, and spreads sonically when the curve is triggered.

I want to point out that what makes Roland's kits sound so "live" is because of the natural ambience and natural effects included in the raw samples themselves. An acoustic drum kit "isn't squeaky clean" as found on other brands. When the sound is "over processed, and the track is over quantized", and those effects are stripped away--you will lose that "live feeling".

Very impressive. I'm about to buy a Roland Drum module for my Tyros 2. I'm trying to decide between the TD 12 or TD 20. They both have the same sounds but the 20 has more options like overall EQ and compression. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Does anyone need me to convert either of these files to MP3? I just realized that I uploaded the Wav files, and the one alone is over 9mb's.

I can upload it in MP3 at 320kbps. That's not as good as CD quality, but much better than standard MP3 conversion rates.
