Yes you can hook up from your PC to your laptop directly via USB. What you need is a USB PC to PC LINK CABLE. There might also be a PC to MAC USB Link Cable available as well.
This goes for about $29 and transfers at around 4 to 8 Mbps. The cable comes with 2000/XP compatible driver and a windows program manager. The program will display one window for the local computer and another one for the remote machine.
For everyone that is already familiar with explorer, all you have to do is drag and drop files from one window to another. That's it !
It's kinda like Laplink in the old days wheere you can transfer via serial or parallel ports but only this time, it's plug and play !
