Took the day off to noodle with my new keys. I am having a blast the (2nd time around) on this unit and was inspired to report.

Comments:

1. FABULOUS keybed - FABULOUS
2. 76 keys seems like a king bed vs a twin.
3. Able to load in all sorts of styles, including off the G70 site - great sounding.
4. Unreal pianos & major sounds & stock styles.
5. On-the-fly playing is coming along, with new found features:
a. You can set up each of the (8) sound groups by "favorites" - gives immediate one touch to 8 different sounds per registration. What is helpful is that they are listed under respective categories.
b. The "cover" really shines on many styles and by having a (3) choice band orchestrator and (2) fills, the choices I feel are more lively than just pushing the "next" variation as on other boards.
c. The D-Beam allows for (3) different formats, save-to allowed. I found the fills work better with a hand wave rather than hitting a button - very cool.
d. Saving 100 registrations (programs)to a disk, or USB is quick and easy.
e. Throw in (2) headphone jacks, a nice speaker system and lightweight...makes me a happy camper.
f. The sequencer is very user friendly, although I have not explored enough to report.

Conclusion: Each his own, but I think this board is absolutely terrific and not overpriced. They are on eBay as low as $800. (Fran - keeping this one )

Zuki good luck the the EXR7s!! Sound like a great board. 76 keys and a FABULOUS keybed and $800 makes it sound like a real winner!! Hope you post a demo.

Correction on the 8 sound banks. CANNOT save them to a style/registration - too good to be true. Only can save the 2 OTS patches. Sorry for the confusion EXR people.

I just think for the price Roland could have at least allowed (basic) voice editing, and a style recorder, along with the basic sequencer editing options as well. From the MP3's I've heard the board sounds great. It just falls short (in my opinion) for the song writer and seems to be more geared towards someone who would rather fire it up and just play.

OK, more news: Now I found out that the OT1 & OT2 CANNOT be changed either. If any EXR owners have been able to change these settings, please let me know. I've had conflicting views from the Roland tech lab and it seems I've done it before. Sure can't figure it out this time.

Squeak,
I agree with the lack of editing. But...if the stock styles and sounds are already there - why bother? Who wants to create styles or edit everything? It does have some pro features, such as inverted bass, registration memory, 16 track user friendly recorder, USB, cover function, disk, 76 wonderful keys and much more. I'd say it is definitely worth the money. This is a gigging keyboard that will blow away most boards, not just a sit down and play at home. I for one, would not be embarrased to throw this through a nice sound system. I've had others live (won't mention brands) that sounded like a toy.
