My first keyboard arranger was a G 800. Before that, I played left hand bass and used a drum machine. If you want to go way back, in the early 70's I played B 3 with a Rhythm Ace. There's an interesting story behind how I got started with that. The year was 1971, I was attending Florida State and was in a 4 piece band that played around. One of the gigs we had was a Wednesday night party for the local single's club. Well one Wednesday we showed up to play only to learn we had been replaced by a guy with a cordovox and drum machine. The other guys got mad and left. I stayed behind and watched what he did. He did a really good OMB. I said to myself, I can do that and went out and did just that. And I've been doing some form of it ever since. I presently play the G 1000. I really like the way the Roland keyboard feel. Here's to many more years of OMB. Geez I can't even remember the model number to my very first one. It was a Yamaha (had mini keys) One (mono) speaker, sounds were terrible (my alarm clock sounds better). It had flush buttons (like the DX series). What was cool about it though is that it had some basic voice parameter buttons to edit the voices. Patterns sounded worse than my cheap basic sound card in my computer.
My next board wasn't an arranger. It was a Casio CZ-1000. Owned many synths between that time.
I didn't buy another arranger until the original DJX was released. Also bought a PSR-540, PSR-550, Casio MZ-2000, and currently use the WK-3500. Had a short run with the PSR-2000 (but had some problems there).
