After hearing Uncle Daves review of the Bose L1 I had to see one. I visited my local GC and was a bit surprised at its size. The weight was the real shocker. I guess weight is a subjective thing.

Here's the specs -

Dimensions -

•Power stand: 26.0 in (660 mm) W x 26.0 in (660 mm) D x 5.0 in (127 mm) H

•Cylindrical Radiator™ loudspeaker (each section): 3.5 in (89 mm) W x 4.0 in (105 mm) D x 43.0 in (1092 mm) H

•Remote control: 2.8 in (71 mm) W x 5.6 in (141 mm) D x 1.6 in (40 mm) H

•Bass module (optional): 10.3 in (250 mm) W x 18.0 in (457 mm) D x 15.3 in (380 mm) H

Weight -

•Power stand: 35 lb (16 kg)

•Lower line array: 16.0 lb (7 kg)

•Upper line array: 14.5 lb (6 kg)

•Remote control: 0.6 lb (0.27 kg)

•Bass module (optional): 28 (13 kg)

I don't think I'd want to meet UD in a dark alley if he was mad at me. I do agree this setup is lighter than a staduim sound system. I guess I'm just a wimp. I got rid of my 9000Pro because it was to heavy to lug around.

I thought the specs might be useful.

Have a great day!

RP

Wow--that's heavy! Guess I'll stick with the Barbettas. Sona 32-C = 36.5 pounds.

I heard it was a bit heavy also from someone else....but I guess it has to have some heft to give off a quality sound...
but to carry Bose 2 Subs for bigger venues...? Arggggg? I'll stick with my [2] 37lb ea. Barbetta Sona 32c's & a 23lb Psr2k...my Back thanx me every night..

Yes, not only does it sound heavy (total weight over 60 lbs) , but it appears it requires setup assembly & breakdown dis-assembly as well. Uncle Dave, 'how long' does it it take to setup/breakdown the Bose L1 system? I really like the Motion Sound amps cause you just bring it in and you're ready to go. No parts to assemble, and no lifting onto pole stands required. My back really appreciates that. - Scott

We just had a demo of the MD12, the Pro-line installer's version of the L1. That is one hot system. A sub is definitely needed for any type of bass, but the articulation of the highs and mids is excellent. Unfortunately, we will not be installing them in our church because of some architectural obstacles, but wow, that is a dynamite system.

Might I add, anyone who thinks they might want to punch things up a bit, might look into the MD12's; they can be stacked 3 high and project up to 120' with less than 6db audible loss, front to back. A separate mixer/amp can be used instead of the L1 base.
