From what I can remember you can e.g. in theory play a KN2000 song on a later keyboard, but not step over. So you had to load the KN2000 song in a KN3000, save it and then load that in a KN5000. It worked for me in the "Old days" but not always the resul was nice music, since there features in the oldest keyboard were limited and weren't upgraded.
