The fact that the KN7K allows fantastic new capability through the USB port has not changed any of the internal capabilities that have been in the keyboards. The SD card can certainly be used to great advantage without external connection as well, so don't let the additional capabilities scare you away.
The basic operating characteristics of the keyboard have been maintained, which make it both easy to use and flexible.
I don't have one, but found it very easy to navigate the first time I tried at a dealer.
