I tried a couple of the CM-30 for a while. I definitely think you need to put them on some kind of stand, or at least tilt them upward. Placing them with the base flat on the floor made them sound muddy IMO. I graduated to a CM-110 with separate sub and I think that sounds better. I don't play out, and it's plenty powerful for my living room.
