Hi ,
don’t have a tyros, but I use a USB cable to connect my sx900 to my laptop, works perfectly.
Also use a USB cable to connect my p121 piano to my laptop, so that that I can use it as a controller for the sx900.

You’ possibly haven’t got your midi channels for receive and send , set up correctly if no data is flowing.

You may have to do your own custom setting, like I did , to get my piano to work with my sx.
What exactly are you trying to do, would help to know, if you need suggestions.
