Political considerations aside, what I've noticed is that Medeli models don't include Yamaha's flagship chord recognition mode: the "AI Fingered" mode.
Although I much prefer the chord fingering on Roland and Korg, if you're stuck with Yamaha, AI Fingered is definitely the most flexible mode they have, and frankly the only one I would play. Perhaps Yamaha refused to license it to Medeli along with the rest of their operating system?
No matter the reason, the result is that Medeli is left with a limited and ineferior selection of chord fingering modes, which is a key facet of an arranger. Other than price, there's no reason to consider their arrangers over Yamaha, or any other brand.
One last thought... If Roland really is getting out of the arranger business as some have speculated, Medeli should try to license Roland's excellent Chord Intelligence system. It deserves to live on, and then Medeli might have a legitimate contender. My $.02.
