Hi,Well there no way to install Windows 7 to a externe hard disk because you will have problem with the 8.1
I use to connect the usb cable to the laptop and dont fonction
The tip when the cable is connect in the back of the keyboard (host) and after to usb to laptop and when you have a message that Windows 8.1 dont reconise your audya usb.Just disconnect the host behind the audya and plug it back right away and it work everytime
Now I will wait to purchase the 2011 pen drive but I dont know I much it cost
