INS is only a extension. Also exists the "Cakewalk Instrument Definition" in the same "ins" extension, and is not the same type of file. A .PAT file also represents "AutoCAD Hatch Pattern Definition" or a Pattern/Texture for Photoshop...

In Ketron I see the file "ins" for a "msp" file that we can't edit. But maybe I'm wrong. crazy
