Few bands from any era or any genre' could match these guys for musicianship, creativity, and just sheer mastery of their instruments. It's as though God himself put these guys together. However, I didn't want my list to include just musicians, but more the people that I found intriguing as personalities. Certainly if I were limiting it to just musicians, every one of the guys you named would be in the top ten.

My mother caught me reading Balzac's 'Droll Tales' when I was @ 10 or 11 (plucked from our library). She frowned but didn't ban me from reading it. It was like great medieval porn for an 11 year old . Both of my parents were educators, so I'm grateful for the literary exposure I had as a child.
