Perhaps we should... and with your line of thinking, we should not be holding a conversation with a passenger either (and I HAVE seen some violent conversations in a vehicle that HAD to be a distraction to the driver!!!)
BUT I can LISTEN to a radio, or LISTEN to a CD, or LISTEN to the GPS while still maintaining attention to driving ... can you do that while DIALING a cell phone, or TEXTING a message? ... yes, they are all there to be used, but at the proper time ...
