I'd like to hear the thought processes people use when selecting intro or endings for various style driven songs.

I find that more often than not, the canned 2nd and 3rd variations don't "fit" the tunes so well. I prefer often to use the 1st variation, essentially just a count off and set the tune up the way I want to...

The more involved intro seem to pertain to a very specific song that isn't what we're actually playing...

Thoughts?
