I am a code monkey lol

Most game developers don't have inhouse music and sound production as it is almost always outsourced to production houses nowadays ... unfortunately. Back in the 80s and early 90s I was involved in game music and sound but that stopped as projects became big budget and parts of the game development could be outsourced. Art, sound and music are obvious areas while the actual coding can't really be done like that.
And due to the big budgets that AAA games have now the production houses that are used are often Hollywood based and are the same ones used by the motion picture industry. The day of the small independant game composer/musician have generally passed on though smaller independant games may still offer a chance of breaking into that market.
Games like Saints Row2 and GTA pretty much just used licensed commercial music for the majority of music heard in the game. In fact games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band are generating more money for established artists than they can make nowadays with their own album sales. AeroSmith are an example of this having made a lot of money out of the special AeroSmith version of Guitar Hero.
