The spoken part is far too "happy". The story is a sad one, and you should hear the disappointment in the voice when he realizes he was only dreaming, and that he's not back home, but still in the prison, waiting to be executed at daybreak. 
 
I didn't hear that at all. As if you never knew what you were telling with this song.
 
And while I'm being the negative pain in the butt already, I'd like to add that you should be careful not to get too far ahead. Elvis' timing was legendary, and just singing the words 2/4 of a bar too early doesn't make it right.
