Does anyone (doing a OMB) perform Beatles songs? And if so, which ones and how do they go over?

They will only go over if you tailor them to fit your style of playing & your audience needs..... If its a bar scene stay close to the originals with your own twist....if its a Ballroom dance change them to suit eg: "Something" in a Rumba, Revolution as a Shuffle Lindy, "Yesterday" Cha Cha, etc, etc, ..
Your the "arranger" you can take any song and make it work if you know how......as far as how the audience will like it that is up to how YOU as a musician perform it. Beatles have so many tunes it quite easy to find what works.

Good luck

Really odd you posted this...

One of my musical "to do's" this year is to add more Beatles tunes.

I already do a few: Yesterday, I'll Cry Instead, And I Love Her, In My Life, Something...

They go over well, as long as I drop them in the right place, right time...

I made a list yesterday morning of Beatles tunes I want to run through and see how many will fit. Here's the list I felt would be worth looking at...

Here, There & Everywhere
With A Little Help from my friends
Here comes the sun
Maxwell's silver hammer
Hard day's night
Let It be
Day Tripper
Nowhere man
That Boy
Hold me tight
I saw her standing there
Long & Winding road

Some will work better for my quartet as our crowds have really taken a sharp tune to a younger crowd, some will work best for my omb stuff, some-hopefully will work for both...

Hope that helps...

I defy anyone to take Revolution #9 and make that a dance tune...

I think it's hard NOT to have a Beatles ballad work when played as a Latin: Bossa, Bolero, Rhumba ... I do a few - Michelle, Yesterday, And I Love Her, Something - as Bossas in CC settings ... they work great ... use different voices i.e. accordion/musette, oboe, pan flute, classical/bossa/acoustic guitar (of course )

The great thing about doing tunes like this is that quite often many of us are playing in higher end CCs or restaurants for a dinner crowd for the generation that grew up with these tunes ... Now they are in a more 'sedate' setting but they still hear songs they recognize, ...

I counted up 20 Beatles tunes ready to go, although I only do about 2 per night. I give them my own spin like several have already stated.
