I already have the DXR 12's which are phenomenal for my bigger jobs. But I needed something a bit smaller, lighter & flexible for my smaller room gigs for example this one pictured here last night. I had tried the baby Mackie SRM150 for tiny jobs (10-15pp), but it just wasn't enough full range for my needs as a vocalist & keyboard player. So I picked up a pair of the little brother of my DXR12's the DXR 8,.....this may have been my best gear buy in a long time!! These little really hit the mark. I was blown away by the power, sound and coverage they gave me on stage. Crystal clear Top & Bottom end was amazing also for a speaker this size. I have used one alone & two in stereo last night & I am totally satisfied & confident now that I made the right choice. All bases covered now 1, 2, or 4 speakers, and if I have to use all Four for some of my BIG gigs I can put the 8's up on poles and 12's on the floor also.
No need for a pair of subs on the floor w/ 8's as satellites on poles?
not unless its one of my DJ dance gigs where I need to push air for that thump!....dont let the size fool you, I had my doubts thinking opld school speakers, but its a new day in speaker design technology, ..amazingly these DXR8's have a terrific low end, I knew they would be good just by the weight, just what I need for my small to med gigs. I actually A/B'd them with the QSC's in the store at performance volume and I have to say it was a tie..nice tight clear pure sound wow!
Don I've had my DXR12's for almost a year so yes I'm having a love affair with the DXR series..... man I'm totally Yamaha at this point...carry on!

Thanx Ron the QSC8 was in my radar till I heard these, both great sound...,.... I already have the covers for the DXR8's... I finally think I have the perfect Gig Rig Now ....take care!
I have heard the DXR 12xs and they are excellent, but my days of toting 42.5 pound speakers are ancient history!
love the weight & love the sound ! speakers are easy to handle ....but KB's not so much like my old G70,........peoples needs are very different with gear,.....I frequently gig 2x a day in and out setup, big gig small job etc, etc,.....my S950 fits the bill for me at this time no complaints just a few wishes.
