Hi Guys,
just been fooling around with the style copying section.
Zuki & I were discussing on another thread, how when pressing one of the fills or intro's & Endings twice it keeps cycling.
Possibly useable as an additional variation.
This ones even more mind boggling
(I think ?).
I've always been under the impression an arranger keyboard doesn't support multiple style signatures within a style ie you can't have a 4/4 style variation & a 2/4 style variation in the same style ??
makes it a bit difficult to play a song that does have multiple time signatures & theres always some sort of work around required.
Just discoveredthe Korg does appear to support multiple time signatures.
I copied a 3/4 , a 4/4 & a 5/4 into a style. I'm fairly certain its playing back the variations correctly.

Not only that, I think it will play back tempo changes as well. I was rather extreme & put 200bpm in one 100 in another etc etc

Might be rather an interesting way to do a simple medley 4 variations from 4 different styles all in one superstyle.

If anyones got a suggestion for a medley fom the onboard styles, I'd be interested in giving it a go just to see if it would actually work. I don't actually do medleys myself.

best wishes
Rikki

Rikki,

I do lots of medleys. If a variation will change those 2 defaults, it would be incredible and very useful. That could free up a lot of space too

The closest thing to crazy by Katie Melua is 4/4 3/4 bar over bar if you want to challenge your machine, Rikki.

Rikki, that is an amazing find. When I get more familiar with the Pa2X I'll definitely try that. I often play pieces that have the oocasional 2/4 measure in an otherwise 4/4 piece.

I used to like the half bar break that Roland had on the G1000 for that very reason. Now I have to cheat and add another 2 beats somewhere to get me back on track.

Hi Roger,
wow it's been a while.
Not sure I know the tune.
That one would be a bit too difficult for me.
For the time being I want to try my experiment with onboard styles rather than have to try & convert a 4/4 into a 3/4 variation.

I really need to know what styles & variations , fills to use in a medley.
I don't play any myself.

And where I might be game to try & convert a 4/4 into a 2/4 , a 4/4 to a 3/4 has slightly bigger challenges.

May have to give that one a miss.

What are you playing nowadays?? Still got your KN7000?

HiGraham,
it doesn't actually play a half break like the Roland does.
The style part would actually have to be modified.

I've mainly come across the multiple time signatures in some of my Richard Clayderman piano pieces. Never really had a keyboard that could play them. With the korg hopefully I can even if it does mean trying to put together some of my own styles.

If you have a song & existing style in mind,
I'd be happy to see if a 4/4 can be easily converted to a 2/4 just to see if it will work.

Prob a bit O/T Rikki, but a good song I reckon would be Are You Strong Enough..it has meter changes all the way through..That would be a good test.
Just a thought

Hi Dennis,
again I'd be at a bit of a loss as to what styles to use.

I might need to go thru some of my old sheet music.
I'm more into the standards, 50's 40's 30's.
Stuff before I was born haahaa (well almost).
The time signature changes I may need to do via a medley, I'm still trying to avoid having to do too much in the way of actual style editing just in case it doesn't work.
I'm 99% sure that it is playing back a
3/4 v1, 4/4v2 , 5/4v3 variations all in the one style, and doing it correctly.

Also need to work out if having fixed different tempo's in each of the variations will work in a medley.

I was able to do it in One Man Band software, be interesting to see if it works just as well in the PA800. I created a 3/4 variation out of 4/4 psr piano style variation & used both in the same style.
Worked perfectly in OMB, but not in the psr.
If I can find it, I may try converting it, at least then I should be able to tell for sure.

thanks for the suggestion Dennis.

best wishes

Hi,

I can confirm that Pa (since Pa80) support different time signatures and different tempos in each style element.

I've used this several times in my own styles with success.

Hope this help.

Best Regards.

Hi Booby,
thank you.
It just sounded too good to be true.
I'm certain my other arrangers aren't able to do this. Would have been a compromise switching between 2 or 3 styles for the one tune. Not worth it.
I can finally put together some suitable styles for my piano based music.
Awesome.
