As I have reported on these hallowed pages some time ago - the prices of 'Top End' Technics have been rapidly appreciating on Ebay.

The KN7000 has risen in price by about 300 Pounds from around 650 to 750 pounds to 1050 (1700 US Dollars) in the last 6 months! I assumed, and posted here that I thought that this price 'hike' was due to them being discovered again and being highly sought after by discerning users ........... WRONG !!!

Heres why .....

I recently bought a KN2600 to be used in conjunction with our (my wife and I) KN7000. To cut a long story a little shorter - I was really disappointed with the 2600, for many reasons, even though it was in perfect condition.

This week, I decided I would sell it on Ebay, and in particular was 'harassed' by a buyer in Indonesia - as I specified COLLECTION ONLY. He even rang me at 5am. Next thing, my 'Buy It Now' Price was bid, by a well known Yamaha Dealer, who is going to collect it tomorrow - and ship it to - Guess where ?? ....... Indonesia !!! He is paying me 450 pounds, which is about 70 Pounds more than the average Ebay Price, and 80 Pounds more than I bought it for. Add on to that this UK dealers commision, packing and shipping, and it must have cost the Indonesian guy about 700 pounds (1100 US Dollars) as a guesstimate - which is twice its UK Value !! !!

I then looked at the Indonesian Buyers feedback on Ebay, and in the last 12 months, he has bought 41 KN7000's and 13 KN2600s in UK. The actual number will be much higher, as he will have other people in UK (or dealers), buying them for him (PX's for example). My friend in Essex sold to another buyer in Indonesia a KN7000 for 1050 pounds (1700 US Dollars) some months ago, so I wondered why this is happening. Answer - they are renting them out to players in the hundreds of Bars out there, and they stick to the one keyboard as if one fails, they have spares for just the one set of circuit boards to replace.

With all these keyboards leaving UK, their 'scarcity value' and the fact they are regarded by many as still being a 'Top' Keyboard, will continue to make the value of these keyboards rise still further, I would think.

Is this a good or a bad thing, folks ?? ..... Well, its bad for me, as I was planning to buy a second KN7000 so we have one each, and I am going to have to pay 'Top Dollar' - Possibly well over 1000 Pounds, but those keyboards we already have, will hold their price for years to come, or even appreciate further in value. But we will never sell them, will we ?

Hi Tony, very interesting topic. I watched e-bay for about 6 months before my one appeared, I paid $1500 Oz and my brother paid $3200 at auction on e-bay just a few weeks later. There were a few around at that time but they have absolutely dried up now.
If I ever decide to GO !!! I will have mine mounted on the casket with a buy now price on it. Ha Ha

There are 2 KN7's on Ebay at the moment:
One has reached a bid of £530.00. (ware: Hertfordshire)3 bids
and the other has a starting price of £775(Oxford) No Bids as yet.
I know one of the dealers who deals with Indonesia, as I bought my KN7 from that dealer and had to pay a little over the odds but was happy with the deal.

Hi Peter,

I Bet you, if they are mint (ish!) - they will fetch over 950 GB Pounds when the Auction ends. More and more people are using Auction Snipe programs, to get a bid in at the last couple of seconds.

My guess is that dealer will be the one who bought this one off me !! Roger! - Over and Out !! LOL

There is one KN7000 on EBay for $2,000. It has received 7 bids and has 2 days and 4 hours. It is located in Media, Penn. USA.

It is interesting to watch the bidding in the last hours.

Eventhough a good many units were sold while Technics was in business, I still think it was a sleeper. The magority of the people did not realize what the KN7000 really was.

Everytime I am getting ready for a show with it, I marvel at the things I can do so easily, and that doesn't account for the many things it can do I don't know about after nine years.

Sometimes I find myself staring at my Kn7000 and wondering if it will give up in the near future; it is aging. Looks good, sounds good but it is still aging.

Then I look in the mirror and I remember; what we have is today –both of u,s and so I play until I’m full, and I do walk away smiling.

Only thing on Ebay at present is a KN6500 for $1000 no bids and 4 days left on the clock.
