Hi,

I have a question. I have my KN6000 connected to my computer. When I play Standard Midi Files with cakewalk pro audio (using the voices of my KN6000), I sometimes want to change the GM voices into NX sound voices. When my KN6000 is switched to "NX sound mode" I can choose and change NX sound voices realtime within cakewalk.
The problem is that everytime I open and play a new song in cakewalk, my KN6000 switches automatically back to "GM level2" mode. How can I make my KN6000 stay in "NX sound" mode ?

please your reaction...

with kind regards, Bart

midi files have a code at the start which sets the playback equipment to gm mode, as soon as you play a song this code is sent to the 6000.

save the midi files as nx midis in the 6000 first, and then you should be able to choose whichever voices you want.

Isn't it possible to create a command in cakewalk that changes the KN6000 mode default to "NX sound" ? That would make it far easier.

yes very easily, just send

F0 50 2C 20 7E 1F 00 00 7F 00 F7

but the other method strips out the gm header permanently so is just as easy if you want to keep nx mode for that particular song without having to mess about with it in the future.

Every time you play the start of the song gm mode will be selected again so you go round in circles otherwise

I am experimenting a lot with my KN6000 and cakewalk, and I have another question. Is it possible to allocate dsp 4 & 5 to the part that I want within cakewalk ? And is it possible to change the dsp parameters within cakewalk ?

I hope someone knows if this is possible...

kind regards, Bart

never tried it, but I think this should be possible.

I remember the nx code has parameters for DSP 1 to 5, on/off, preset number, variation and amount.

I think you can also assign the DSPs to the accompaniment parts too, within the limitations of the composer spec 2 DSPs per accompaniment.

Use the same format message as before and try substituting the data messages described in the blue book.
