How to mix a pop song from scratch is way more than I have to give it but there it is. It'll take you a month to read it and you'll need an engineer sitting beside you to explain all the terms. Sheesh.

Sooooo true!! rice, you can have all the technical knowledge in the world, but if you can't "hear" stuff, you're better off sticking to the soldering...it's ALL about how it sounds, and no amount of knowing what buttons to push compensates for this listening ability..

That's an amazing (longbut good) article, isn't it. Wow. If I were an engineer, I'd have protege's read that. In fact, if I could (and I couldn't,) I'd have prospective clients read that. No wonder records cost so much to produce.
