An arranger is a band that backs you up with the push of one key. Depending on the brand, some bands are lousy and some are great.

I gotta say there are a lot of awesome people on this forum. Thank you all for taking this question seriously and providing me with some great insight! My initial impression was the $89 Kmart special and now I better understand the following arranger keyboards have. This type of instrument might even provide me with some of the creative tools to actually take my musical ideas a few steps closer to what I hear in my head! Goes to show the only stupid question is the one not asked...
