I noticed from the E-50/E-60 manuals that there is no "Grand X" piano sounds in the keyboard, but "NaturalPiano" is the default piano sound.

How does that compare to the Grand X? Anyone heard the E-50/E-60 pianos and is able to give a comment?

Actually, I noticed that E-80 also lists "NaturalPiano" as the default piano sound.

Is "NaturalPiano" the new name for "The Grand X"?

Anyone can confirm?

Lee where did you get the manuals? They do not appear to be posted yet on the Roland site.

Thanks,
Ted

The piano in the E80 is slightly different from the GrandX in the G70, I was told it is the same one as the RD700S. Pretty similar in character, though, and IMHO one of the best, warmest hardware pianos out there.

The E-80 Grand Piano is quite different from G-70's one (Steinway-like vs Yamaha-like) and is same as RD-700SX "Natural Grand" sound, while G-70 is same as "Ultimate Grand" of Fantom X.

E-50/60 Piano is derived from E-80, so it is different from G-70 "Grand X".

Up to you (and to your taste) to judge which is better and why.

I wouldn't go assuming that the piano in the E50 is going to be the same as the E80's. There are several pianos in the E80, and it is likely that the E50/60 will have one of the smaller ones. Roland usually have different pianos in their mid and low-line arrangers to their top of the line models. Not to mention more sample compression and different D/A converters.

Anyone that listened to a G600 next to a G1000 would be able to comment on the change of sound quality on ostensibly the same patch, and there were more and better pianos in the G1000, not to mention other sounds.

I find it hard to believe that Roland would put their top-of-the-line piano sound in a mid-line arranger........... they never have before.
