Hi all, I do not have much to contribute yet other than that I love the board with it's sounds and styles.
There are different OS steps than on my 2100 and so I have not been able to save anything yet.
Beakybird, no problems with the data wheel or anything else. Everything seems to be
A-Ok. Will post more tomorrow. My bum injured right hand slows my progress a LOT.

I am prety disappointed after almost 24 hours not one congratulations on my new board. not one reply? Is it my breath?

Well, I don't care. I'd rather spend my time playing with this great sounding board than replying back to any posts anyways.

The styles with the mega voices, so bright, yet warm and full. I never used ANY preset styles in the 2100 without tweaking each and every instrument in it and saving.
This board, no tweaking internal styles.
And the SA voices? Some are really really good! but even without those, there are a lot of added cool, live, and sweet over the 2100. Such a huge excellent pallette of guitars and basses most of which will never need any adjustments. I am Pleased as can be.
Later.... I'm going to play and explore some more.

Maybe it is the time of day! Well we are awake in Australia. Enjoy your keyboard and we look forward to hearing more of your experiences with it.

Hi Jim

Congrats on the S900. Glad you're enjoying it.

As far as the internal styles sounding good out of the box it sounds like from what I've heard the others say and what I experienced is that it is a definite step up from the 3000 where so many said the sound wasn't the way they liked it until a lot of tweaking.

Oddly enough, outside of maybe the horns, I thought the PSR2000 sounded better than the 3000 out of the box. NOw that I think about it, there were a number of players that said the same.

Have fun!

Scott

In other posts on this forum, there has been mention of improved keyboard feel of the S900 over the PSR-3000.

In regards to the keyboard feel...there has been no documentation from Yamaha Japan making reference to a new action on the S900 and for all intents and purposes, it has the same keybed and keys as the 3k.

The new rich awesome SA voices on the S-900 (like the Concert Guitar) make one feel more connected to the keyboard so maybe people have this illusion.

All the best with the new instrument,

Ian

Jim:

Congratulations! No more floppy shuffle.

I notice a difference with the key feel, but one keyboard has been pounded on for three years, and the other is brand new. The key feel on the PSR S900 is very responsive in my opinion.

I hope your hand gets better soon.
