Last night my Compaq laptop crashed while playing an MP3 with Winamp 5.08..It made a rapid gurgle sound..and than would just keep on rebooting...Some of the messages showing up on the screen:Win32 error
Parsher message,invalid property das3' at line637

file system scan of C....NTFS file..

I thought maybe Winamp created the problem and removed it, but it still crashes...Any suggestions would be appreciated...

This is a Pentium4 running XP Professional..

Fran,
If it keeps rebooting how did you manage to remove Winamp?
Does it reboot evey so often in it's own accord or it seems that when you do certain things it crashes (for example it runs fine until you open up a video file)
Try to isolate the problem or give more details.

Trident, with some luck it stabalized long enough for me to remove Winamp..I also restored to a previous day setting..Last night I even coaxed it to play another MP3 with Winamp , but shut down[XP blue screen],and started the re booting process.

Fran, is it ever stable enough to run a virus scan? There are some "nasties" out there that can cause rebooting. As Trident suggested, knowing whether running something in particular seems to cause the reboot could help diagnose the problem. Also, the exact error message text might help.

Seems to me that something isn't going to well with the 5.08 version.
I installed it yesterday and after that, almost every right mouseclick gave an error and made XP shut down all programs back to the desktop.
System Restore didn't restore the older Winamp back, so I had to delete it, search the registry and deleted any reference to Winamp in general, and put the older version back on.
Now everything is working fine again

Fran,

Try uninstalling winamp, then try playing the files using Windows Media Player. If everything works OK, then you know it was a glitch with Winamp.

Gary, I tried that and Media player played about 3 or 4 Mp3's okay..I thought I had it pegged...than it acted up again..

I also played an older Winamp..played a few MP3's.. than down again..continuing booting up..

Barry, this laptop is never on line..

That full blue page of error shows for a split second...How can I hold the blue screen long enough to read it?

Don I booted it in safe mode,,I didn't see anything happening..Is it suppose to fix anything in safe mode?
I re booted in normal and still no luck..

I just re installed Winamp[5.04] and played about 6 MP3's before it went goofy...I noticed when I highlighted MP3 selection 7..I pushed enter and it took several seconds[hourglass busy],,than rebooted with the same problem...I'm starting to think it's a thermal thing[shutdown after it warms up a bit]...Any thoughts???
