Hi All

Could somebody tell me what's the functionality of Korg i30 hard disk?

Can it be used to save styles (complete with the arrangement)?

My friend told me that everytime I load new styles, I will overwrite factory preloaded styles. If I have the hard disk, can I avoid it from happenning?

Thanks a lot

Hi,

the hard disk in i30, talking about styles, was only a storage device.
At that times there was NO direct from disk reading for styles, but only for SMF.
So anytime you need to load new styles you overwrite old ones in the user memory area.

Hope this help.

Cheers.

I30. I had an i3 & i30 some years ago now, but if my memory stands up.You can replace the in-built factory styles with styles of your own choice. This would partly solve the problem.
Factory Styles can be restored from a downloaded file off the korg site.

Hi Bobby,

I plan to buy styles from the famous Universal Style Bank (USB CDROM) Online.

I have 2 assumptions, but I don't know whether they are correct or not.

My assumption are:

1. If I don't have the hard disk, then everytime I want to load styles to my i30 (from USB CDROM), I have to write them into a floppy disk first, and then load them into my i30. Is it correct?

2. If I have the hard disk, can I load the content of the CD to it (let say by using computer - I plug the hard disk to a computer first) and then after I put back the hard disk inside i30, everytime I want to pick styles, I can just browse the hard disk (using i30) and pick the styles I want to be loaded to i30?

Thanks a lot

Here's an i30 site that's no longer in active service, but all the links that run down the left hand side of the page open up a bunch of info about lots of aspects of the i30 including, I think, some stuff about the HD. Hopefully you can find something there of good use.

Good luck.

P.S. The Pete Charlesworth mentioned in the main text on that page is now known as 'karmathanever' over on the Irish Acts forum. There's not much he doesn't know about the i30.

Hi,

Rolandfan your choice is n.2. You can preload the hd and then use it to load "everytime" to user locations.

I think I did this, the hd can be preloaded in a normal dos partition (I think 16 bit anyway given the times).

Cheers.

Hello All,

Does somebody know how to load styles into i30 hard disk using a PC?

I don't know how to connect laptop's hard disk (i30 hard disk) to regular PC. Or do I have no choice other than connect it to a laptop?

What kind of connection does it use? Regular IDE?

Thanks.

RolandLover,
Not that I think you won't get excellent help here on SZ, but you might want to also check out the i30 forum here: http://www.korgforums.com/mambo/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=8
