Hello to all of you

I was at the NAMM show and I enjoyed my time there, some great gear out there,it was nice to meet AJ and Dano1 in person.I spoke to Sandro from Ketron and I did point to him afew things I didn't like about the sd-1
1-when you use all 4 outputs you get a dry signal.
2-you can't activate protomento, mono, legato effect from edit voice menu. What happens when You change a sound? you need to press the proto.button on the outside to deactivate.
3-no indian drum kit,no oriental drum kit(stayles or sounds).
along with other problems that I faced with the sd-1,and from sandro's reply it looks like there isn't much they can do about it,due to limitations in the chip design.Correct me AJ if I missed something.
I hope Ketron will find a fix, because the sd-1 is a great arranger and it deserves more perfection.
this is my testimony so help me god!!

Mike_E,
We are gradually working on resolving most of the above points.

Mike ,
Most of my customers like the fact that when using the 4 outs ...it is dry . Many prefer to do there own mix,, especially in studio application . So that could be a PRO or a CON IMO. Did you ask the person you bought your SD1 from about the 4 outs ?
It's never been a secret !
Indian drum kits ....this may be valid . However , I can't remember seeing a product with Indian drum kits . Can you please tell me which keyboard you played these kits ? I would like to check it out .
In Korea , designing your own drum kit via the user kits is one way to accomplish Ethnic type drums . There is oriental sounds and styles available for the X1 series . I am certain that SD1 ethnic styles will be available ! One SD1 strong point are the drums .
I can not help you with the sound editing features you say are a problem . I haven't had a customer really having to get into sound editing like what you describe .
If Sandro was willing to implement rootless chords ( ask Scott Yee) , than there is a chance he will look at this in the future !
Is there anything you really like about the keyboard ? dano
Ps...I do not want to sound defensive my friend !

Dan,
I think he means something like the Ethnic DRUMS in the korg "Triton/Karma"(Orch/Ethnic drums set)the oriental drums in the X1 is only turkesh/Arabic drums.correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Dan01
Thanks for your feedback, when I posted my takes on the sd-1,it doesn't mean that I don't like the instrument!! I do,but these where issues that concerns me.Regarding the 4 outs,it's not practical when performing live!.you need to have an effect rack to compensate for the dry output and what about sounds that has chours, delay, reverb mix?.
for the indian drum kit,I was referring to the Korg ,as vic said

Certainly if the 4 outs had some effects it would be great. Conversly their absence (on X1 Also) is a pity. Can this be remedied. I use 4 outs and I put drums on 3 and 4 this means that I can use different amp settings for Bass drum and for snare I put amp reverb on some right hand sounds -- I use seperate piano for most tunes anyway. This is a very BIG ISSUE and I do hope an answer can be found.

Issue...4 Sep. Outputs... I to was dissapointed with this on the SD1 BUT if you are using a quality set-up (speakers/amp/mixing board or any combination thereof)there shuold be No issue. I am very satisfied with the sound of my SD1, including Vocals, coming out of the L&R outputs into the L&R inputs of one channel of my mixer and through my powered speakers. For "LIVE" playing the seperate outs IMO are not neccessary.

I do agree that there is a problem with the way the outs work on the Sd1. Right now I have assigned Drum2 to out 3 so that it gives me a quick control of the drum2 volume through my mixer, since Sd1 doesn't offer slider volume control and the button volume controls are very awkward and slow for me. Nothing beats real time slider volume controls. Just because I assigning Drum2 to out3 this makes the Drum1 which is still assigned to L&R totally dry. This is a serious problem with the Sd1. Sd1 is supposed to be more of a live performance
keyboard than a studio keyboard. for people who are using it in the studio this is not a very big issue. Also they really have to add loop recording in pattern edit and also in the sequencer. Even a very cheap yamaha does loop recording.
